Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 6-12, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 428 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLM
July 6
4:29 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Loose turkeys running around neighbors’ property. Elderly caller and his wife need help rounding them up. Owner is not home. The caller has caught turkeys.
July 9
6:44 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Requesting deputy for a dog locked in vehicle. Deputy unlocked vehicle and let out dog that did not appear to be in distress. Owner came out to car and incident was explained to her.
CITIZEN ASSIST
July 9
8:57 p.m., Cedar Road, Munson. Caller advised her parents are sailing in Canadian waters and are supposed to check in at 8 p.m. They have not made contact tonight. A float plan was emailed to deputy and forwarded to USCG. Dispatch spoke with USCG and advised them.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
July 10
7:59 p.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Caller states their goat strayed onto neighbor’s yard. When the wife went over to bring the goat home, neighbor threatened and called her names. Deputy advised. Ongoing dispute over property line, noise, barking dogs and horses. No direct threats were made. Deputies spoke with both parties involved. Advice given and suggestions were made to help keep the peace between neighbors.
DISORDERLY
July 12
12:56 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Neighbor’s nephew is urinating in public facing my house. Complainant does not wish to speak with a deputy. Male told to pee inside his residence from now on.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
July 6
10 p.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. Female is screaming for help, saying he is going to kill her. Send a squad for head injury. Male arrested for DV and disorderly conduct.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
July 10
9:37 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Caller’s teenage daughter just called him from a party on Route 6 house advising him they had alcohol and “bad drugs” there. Caller advised his daughter to leave. He is unsure if there are adults there or how many people at residence. Spoke with complainant who had no specific information and only wanted GCSO aware. Residence had one vehicle in the driveway; will perform extra patrols.
9:41 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Kids in the neighborhood stole my daughter’s bike this weekend and we reported it to a deputy. Now tonight they are in front of our house hollering at her. There are about 10 of them in the road. They were calling my daughter names. Mother concerned a few of neighborhood kids are picking on her daughter. No violence or threats of violence reported. Advice given to mother and daughter.
NOISE PROBLEM
July 6
1:09 a.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Caller thinks it’s Turner Drive address blasting music for a month from the garage. While on the line the music stopped, but caller also said the male subject has been urinating in his yard, facing the caller’s house. It’s the house with all the lights on.
SUSPICIOUS
July 11
10:06 a.m., Old State Road, Huntsburg. Female in green dress in middle of the road asking people for cigarettes. She seems strung out on something. GOA/UTL.
July 12
10:14 a.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. There were just two white males that looked like they had zip-tied another white male’s hands and took him into the house on Fairgate. There is a red truck with 30-day tags in driveway.
THEFT
July 9
2:48 p.m., Magnolia Lane, Auburn. Theft of golf clubs from vehicle in his garage sometime the evening of July 4 into the next morning. Report taken.
THREATENING
July 9
10:38 a.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller worked on a bike. Owner wrote him a check on a closed account months ago and then never came in for it. Bike has been in storage nine months. Owner keeps stating he is coming and does not show up. Today caller told him to forget it and he threatened via text to break his legs. Report taken; civil matter.
