July 13-19, 2018

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 13-19, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 388 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLM

July 17

10:15 a.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Neighbor male was wrestling with dogs in the yard in a dogfight. Appears a bog dog killed a little dog. Dog went onto another property and the dog at that address attacked the other dog. Owner is taking dog to vet to most likely be put down.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

July 13

8:08 a.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Ongoing problems with the neighbors. Caller stated his neighbor left for work this morning and turned his car radio up to cause a disturbance. Also says he pointed a screw gun at him and made the hand motion like it was a gun. Neighbor denied doing any of that. Both parties were asked not to look or talk to one another.

12:56 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. Neighbor is flipping off and swearing at home owner and his wife. Both neighbors are not getting along and constantly bickering at each other. Both parties were given advice and advised to get along.

July 14

12:12 a.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Complainant is a taxidermist and is currently working on a project for a customer. Complainant stated a customer and a friend came into his shop, pushed and shoved him around, and took a deer mount and deer antlers, and stated he would get his items back when the project is completed. Complainant does not want to press charges for assault or theft at this time. Advice given. Complainant wishes to have incident on record.

July 18

4:35 p.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. His wife is destroying his Jeep because he is coming home late from work. His wife is using a coat hanger to get into his car. Deputy checked the Jeep and there was no damage. Owner was made aware.

July 19

9:05 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Other night caller heard gunshots. Now he found his neighbor’s dead dog partially buried in his field. Caller has not confronted the neighbor, but wanted neighbor warned they buried their dog on his property. Deputies spoke to neighbor and advised she did not know she was off her property and will talk to her neighbors and say sorry. Dog in question was ill and attacking household members, so they dispatched the dog.

FRAUD

July 15

2:24 p.m., Georgette Drive, Burton. Male believes he is being scammed and would like to speak with a deputy. Victim has been sending money to a girl he met on Tinder by buying gift cards and supplying the number on the back.

July 16

10:19 a.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Counterfeit money.

July 17

7:22 p.m., Shasta Drive, Chardon. Caller has suspicion her uncle is mishandling her grandmother’s money. Grandmother currently living at Highland Heights assisted living facility. Complainant further advised she has been in contact with Ohio Attorney General’s Office, which requested her to have a police report on file. Advice given.

July 18

3:37 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Caller advised at approximately 2:30 p.m. her Discover credit card was used for $2,011.73 at Giant Eagle in Chardon. Caller states she has her card and never lost it. She states she has canceled her card and wanted the incident documented.

GUNSHOT

July 18

6:29 p.m., Shedd Road, Parkman. 20-year-old male shot himself in the face on accident. Conscious and breathing. West Farmington called. Medevac is on standby per request.

HARASSMENT

July 17

7:24 p.m., Dianne Drive, Newbury. Ongoing harassment issues involving the neighbor. Wanted it documented that her neighbor’s niece drove through and was seen making obscene gestures (middle finger) toward her children. This animosity has been ongoing.

SUSPICIOUS

July 13

1:04 a.m., Shedd Road, Burton. Caller states there is a hooting owl noise coming from outside. Caller cannot tell if the noise is coming from an animal or a person, because it doesn’t sound like a real owl sound. Caller states in the same neighborhood someone also had removed the batteries from the alarm clocks of two young girls, the alarms were found on the floor the next morning and there was a flashlight on. Caller would like deputies to sit in the area in the evenings with lights off and listen for the sound. Deputy sat in front of home for several minutes and traveled up and down the road. No one observed in area and no suspicious noises heard.

5:37 a.m., Shedd Road, Burton. Caller is now saying this morning there was a “very mysterious thing.” She heard the clock strike three o’clock and then she heard something roll and she can’t find her alarm clock and the battery is under the bed and the cover for the battery is between the headboard and the wall. She didn’t want to touch it because she is worried about disturbing things deputies need to see. Deputy moved the bed away from wall and located clock, which appeared the caller knocked out of bed while sleeping and the sound of the clock hitting the floor is what woke her up.

July 14

8:28 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Crooked River sent out a mother and a 10-year-old son on two kayaks. The child returned but the mother has not. Crooked River has called back and spoke with the child’s father, who stated mother is a heavy drinker and is supposed to be on house arrest. Female arrested for endangering children. Report to follow.

THREATENING

July 16

4:38 p.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden. Caller is an adjustor for insurance. She entered the home and the male occupant stated you know where it is, you know where it’s at. Female states when she was outside he told her she was an old hag or a f%@&ing hillbilly that lives in North Olmsted and not to come back until after 5 p.m. Caller states he was verbally aggressive with her. Report taken.

VANDALISM

July 17

3:54 p.m., Colony Lane, Burton. Caller reports sometime between midnight and 9 a.m. some kids TP’d the trees on the property and moved some landscaping stones in their yard. No damage. Caller requests incident be documented.
