Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 20-26, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 443 calls during this seven-day period.
AGENCY ASSIST
July 20
11:07 p.m., Townline Road, Windsor. Keep an eye out for ATVs/UTVs in area. Keep having a complaint from resident. Caller states they’re back with their scooters. Caller is now stating he is outside with his shotgun and he’s ready to draw blood because he is tired of all the noise. Checked area, UTL/GOA.
ANIMAL PROBLM
July 24
9:47 p.m., Kile Road, Chardon. Ongoing issue with neighbor’s cow coming onto caller’s property and is currently out. Cow is at the property just south. Caller advised the cows keep breaking out because they are not being fed. UTL/GOA.
BURGLARY
July 23
11:27 a.m., E. King Street, Chardon. Came home and found broken window and house is ransacked. Report taken.
CITIZEN ASSIST
July 21
7:35 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Some issue with a cat she gave to the neighbor. Now it’s on her porch.
DISORDERLY
July 20
12:28 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. 32-yeaar-old male out of control on narcotics. No weapons. Believe he is on heroin, but he said last night he has “roxies.” I’m outside. He’s inside breaking stuff. He’s a big man but he isn’t a violent person. Male fled before arrival; nothing criminal done. (At 1:39 p.m. he is back in the house. He is out of control.)
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
July 23
12:39 a.m., Henning Drive, Chardon. Fight between male and female. Male knocked on caller’s door, said he was bleeding. Male is walking northbound on Henning. Caller said the wife stabbed male with knife. One arrest made. Report taken.
2:37 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Female was hit by her father. He is intoxicated. No weapons, no drugs. Fight is over a phone. One male arrested.
July 24
10:39 a.m., Greatwood Lane, Auburn. Husband twisted caller’s wrist and hurt her toe. Husband has left and will not be back until around 11:30 a.m. This happened about 1.5 hours. One male arrested.
FRAUD
July 24
1:57 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. On post to report fraud. Victim gave $10,000 in gift cards to someone out of country. Person convinced complainant that she was overpaid by a computer company.
HARASSMENT
July 23
7:55 p.m., Country Oaks Trail, Munson. Harassment over social media. Male advising a subject is making slanderous comments on social media about him. No threats of violence and the comments are in the public domain, not just to his specific account. Advice given.
LACERATION
July 23
9:14 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. While on his first day at the sawmill, male stuck his hand near a 16-inch rotary blade saw. Four fingers were severed off accidentally by operator error. Male is being transported to UH Geauga.
LITTERING
July 22
6:45 p.m., Sterling Glen Lane, Auburn. Male put a freezer in the street. Deputy located the refrigerator and eventually was able to locate owner, who admitted to owning the refrigerator and placing it on the roadway. Explained a company was coming to pick it up. Owner was told to move the refrigerator off the road and onto his driveway. He was cooperative and said he would take care of moving it.
July 25
2:20 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Someone dumped a bunch of trash at the recycling center. An Aspen Hills resident’s name was found in the trash. Burton Township standing by. Resident contacted with instructions to remove all waste from recycling center, otherwise she will be charged criminally.
SUSPICIOUS
July 20
7:47 p.m., Greentree Lane, Troy. Caller reports her neighbor urinated in his yard earlier. Caller took photos. His pants also fall down frequently; he does not wear underwear. Caller reports he does suffer from mental issues; male is in his 40s. Want it documented because all neighbors are signing a petition and are going to take it to park manager. Said they want charges pressed if he urinated in public again. Deputy spoke with father of male and requested a list of services provided by the county.
July 21
1:01 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Drone keeps hovering our yard. Caller was advised of the current FAA rules and regulations concerning the operation and flight of drones.
THEFT
July 22
9:46 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. 6-7 storage units are open and have been broken into. Owner on location; two renters contacted and arrived. Owner will be in contact and create list of other renters.
