The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 29 through April 4, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 338 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

April 2

8:54 a.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. School search. Assisted with school search. BHS locker checks with K-9s.

ALCOHOL OFFENSE

April 2

10:05 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Male in the lobby with phone that shows alcohol being provided for underage people. Deputy advised. Nothing can be done at this time. Attempted to make contact with suspect who provided alcohol. Will try again.

BAD CHECK

April 4

2:49 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Caller received a bad check for $381.42. Owner will attempt to locate a new address from the individual and send them a certified letter. Owner will contact responding deputy if he has any more problems.

FRAUD

April 1

11 a.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller said someone opened a PayPal credit card account in his name. PayPal was contacted and advised they would close the account, and nothing was charged. PayPal is handling the investigation and is following their steps to assist. Advice was provided and caller completed a written statement.

PROSTITUTION

April 4

11:58 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Male and female in custody.

ROAD RAGE

April 2

10:08 a.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Complainant was assaulted by another female after a short road rage. She does not need rescue. Would like to make a report and show video of the incident. Complainant said other female was driving recklessly. Both females stopped their vehicles and an argument ensued. Complainant had some poorly “choiced” words toward other female and she was hit in the face. Complainant did not want to press any charges and did not assist in helping with the investigation. Advice provided.

SUSPICIOUS

March 30

7:59 p.m., Woodlawn Drive, Newbury. Her minor daughter was just sent a photo from a classmate with a gun to his head. Unknown address. Report taken.

11:12 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Caller says he sees a bright white light in the sky that has been lighting up his backyard. He does not know if it is an aircraft. He would like a deputy to call him back. Checked area and found no bright lights and no other issues.

April 3

12:07 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Caller reports someone was knocking on his door. Caller does have a CCW. Caller will put the weapon away when officers pull in drive. House and area checked OK. Elderly male does have a friend staying with him. Possibly it was him.

4:43 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Corrections found property left behind from an unidentified, released detainee. Property, a small silver heart necklace with a small screw containing a white substance was found. Contents and method of storage suggest ashes of deceased. Necklace along with contents will be left with evidence and entered as lost property.

THREATENING

April 2

3:42 p.m., Helmut Drive, Chardon. Went to get the mail the other day and a CD with a skull on it fell out of her mailbox. She believes it is a threat from the neighbor and would like to speak to a deputy. She believes the neighbor across the street placed a CD (Sounds of Horror) in her mailbox. Just wants it reported in case something happens to her.
