April 5-11, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 5-11, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 384 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

April 11

8:20 a.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Caller advised he saw a trooper chasing a black vehicle, lost the trooper but the vehicle crashed and female ran down the ravine. Trooper returned and caller advised she ran, trooper followed. Squad needed for a female prisoner. Assist OSP with crash. Suspect ran on foot and was located on north side of 422. Female arrested.

ANIMAL ABUSE

April 10

8:34 a.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Dog was poisoned by the neighbor with rat poison. Deputy advised. Spoke with complainant who said last Sunday her dog was poisoned by her neighbor. Said dog died yesterday. She called sheriff’s office Sunday and was directed to call Rescue Village or dog warden’s office, but they were closed. She then called ODNR and they sent out an officer. She said wildlife officer who came out took the poison and spoke with neighbor. Officer said he would pass this information on to county wildlife officer.

ANIMAL BITE

April 6

4:49 p.m., Nicoles Way, Munson. Neighbor’s dog just attacked her and she needs to make a report. Dog warden to handle criminal charges. Report taken. Neighbor came back over to the house and then began to scream in the caller’s face. He would like it documented.

April 8

12 p.m., S. Brown Road, Hambden. 65-year-old female bit by a stray cat she brought into home.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

April 5

6:18 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Neighbor’s dog just came over and killed another chicken. Caller saw it. Five chickens were killed. Complainant advised she is going to contact dog warden.

10:17 p.m., Crestridge Drive, Chardon. Neighbor’s dog came into my fence and came after me, and killed my rabbit. Dog warden to handle.

April 11

8:11 a.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Caller advised a large bird is in her elderly mother’s living room and she doesn’t know what to do. Request assistance. Daughter is over an hour away. Bird was removed.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

April 7

12:44 p.m., Penniman Drive, Hambden. Teenage daughter is attacking me. We’re in the front yard. No weapons. Getting more violent; bleeding more. One juvenile female arrested.

EXTRA PATROL

April 8

5:34 p.m., Chateau Trail, Auburn. Caller feels unsafe after boyfriend’s threats to kill her and is requesting extra patrol overnight.

FOUND PROPERTY

April 6

2:27 p.m., Old State Road. Wallet found on bike path and dropped off at Chardon PD. GCSO contacted and will pick up to deliver to owner. $76 cash and numerous credit cards, etc. Property returned to rightful owner.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

April 9

4:58 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Female in the lobby of post with her minor daughter to report another child calling her inappropriate racially offensive names. Civil matter.

April 10

9:36 a.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Assistant principal caught four kids drinking Monster energy drinks mixed with cough medicine. Kids were brought into classroom and spoken with. All parents were notified and permission was given to speak with the boys. Advice was provided and school is handling punishment.

OVERDOSE

April 7

5:58 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. 24-year-old male overdose. He is not breathing and is blue. Report taken.

April 8

10:38 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. 34-year-old male overdosed, labored breathing. CPR in progress. Caller went into bathroom and when she came out male was shaking and convulsing. Passed out on the kitchen floor from suspected drug overdose. Squad personnel revived using Narcan. Male transported to Hillcrest to receive further treatment. Deputies located an empty cut baggie and a rolled up piece of paper next to it on the living room table. Items collected for evidence.

THEFT

April 5

12:03 a.m., West High Street, Middlefield. Caller’s husband works at BT Oil. He was reviewing tape and saw someone broke into maintenance room around 10 p.m. and stole items. Believed thieves already have left. See report.

THREATENING

April 10

4:38 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Another resident is threatening him. No weapons. One male is upset because he thinks the other has been casting spells on him using magic dust. Parties agreed to stay separate and the dispute is being handled by staff.

TRAFFIC STOP

April 6

10:50 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Amish buggy. One juvenile male arrested for OVI and underage drinking.
