April 26 through May 2, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 26 through May 2, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 343 calls during this seven-day period.

ASSAULT

April 27

6:33 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Deputy advised. Female was assaulted by her boyfriend of seven months in Auburn. Female suffered injuries to her jaw and neck. Report to follow.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

April 27

10:35 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Customer over phone was irate. Have a feeling he is going to come up and give me a hard time over storage bill. Customer said owner would not accept credit card for storage fee, wants cash only. Argumentative customer left after deputy explained situation.

DISORDERLY

April 28

12 a.m., Pekin Road, Russell. Female rented her house out for the weekend and the male is having a huge party, and she wants them removed. Caller rents home as an Airbnb; states about 30 cars and she states these are people from East Cleveland. Couple hundred people at this home. Requesting further assistance. Chester PD en route. Deputy advised.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

April 28

11:25 a.m., Kimmeridge Trail, Newbury. Wants her adult daughter out of the house. She feels like she is taking advantage of her. Verbal argument only at this time. Argument over household duties. No violence or threats.

April 29

9:18 p.m., Highland Drive, Troy. His ex-girlfriend will not leave his house. Verbal argument; nothing physical at this time. Both parties have been drinking. Caller states the female has never lived there. Male is waiting outside. Male and female transported to jail.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

April 28

11:08 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. Caller states his brother punched him in the face. There are firearms in the home. Caller states they are locked up. Drinking. Brother just left. Caller declined rescue squad. One male arrested for punching his brother in the face. Report to follow.

FRAUD

April 26

1:50 p.m., Jacobs Drive, Auburn. Possible scam. Complainant received a fictitious call from an individual claiming to be a representative of United Health Care. Caller wanted to send complainant a back brace that was never ordered and then bill the insurer. No money exchanged hands, no account information was shared and the complainant’s “real” health care provider was notified. Complainant was advised not to accept anything he did not order.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

April 30

1:56 p.m., Edwards Street, Parkman. Neighbors’ animals — sheep, goats — keep coming over here and doing damage to my property and we have spoken to them several times. Deputy spoke with neighbors’ daughter who admitted their fencing needs some work. Parents were not home at the time. A follow up visit will be made later.

SUSPICIOUS

April 27

1:30 p.m., Raintree Drive, Munson. April 21 someone entered the home while son was home; they saw him and ran away. Deputy advised. Easter Sunday, teenage son told parents he saw someone in all black in his house. Nothing missing. Documentation only.

THREATENING

April 26

5:46 p.m., Mulberry Road, Chester. A white truck labeled Mobile Meats threatened caller and tried to run caller over. Several complaints regarding the driver and his threatening demeanor.

TRESPASSING

April 30

5:11 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Burton. Caller reports his neighbor is harassing his workers and trespassing. Caller states male subject is his employee and he’s being harassed. According to complainant, both on scene units are “not f$%&ing civil engineers and not qualified to read a property survey.” From what GIS shows, the pad in question is partially on neighbor’s property where the neighbor erected stakes and tape. Complainant is going to file a civil lawsuit if his employee gets arrested again. Complainant to out at both on-scene units so both cleared.

5:14 p.m., Bean Road, Munson. Landscaper is parked in my yard and caller asked him to move and he threatened me. Red truck; no company name on the side. They moved to the property that they are working on now. He told me to “go back to my house or he is going to whoop my ass.” Argument over property line between landscaping crew and neighbor. No threats were made. Advice given to both parties.
