The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 19-25, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 482 calls during this period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 21

7:18 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. Cow in the road. Removed by owner.

ASSAULT

July 20

4:42 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. 22-year-old male is reporting someone kicked him in the face and beat him up. No obvious injuries. He is an employee of Dillen Products and while traveling to the gas station on break with his coworkers they stopped the car, pulled him out and beat him up. Subjects left heading back to Dillen. Report taken.

CITIZEN ASSIST

July 22

3:31 p.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Caller’s white and gray cockatiel parrot flew out of her home on July 20. Bird has a leg band on it.

FRAUD

July 19

10:48 a.m., Paradise Drive, Middlefield. Sent $1,700 in cash by FedEx on Monday to an address in Maryland in regards to a friend and the FBI. Complainant has the address. Party is aware of the scam and just wanted the incident documented at this time.

2:30 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Pioneer Waterland states people have purchased tickets online using other people’s credit card. When the fraudulent charges are reversed, the tickets are still being used. Deputy advised to cancel the tickets in system and have greeters get a license plate when tickets are attempted to be redeemed.

INJURED PERSON

July 19

7:31 p.m., Hayes Road, Huntsburg. 5-year-old male kicked by pony on right side of head. He is conscious and talking, small amount of bleeding. Medevac called for standby. Will call back when they hear from the helicopter. FD en route to hospital.

SUSPICIOUS

July 19

10:39 p.m., Georgia Road, Burton. One buggy threw fireworks into another buggy scaring the occupants. Buggy is still at end of driveway, slowly heading westbound on Georgia. 3-4 males possibly intoxicated. Caller and her husband are scared these males are after them. Caller’s husband has a whip for protection. Men are coming up driveway, but are not ones that threw fireworks. Deputy met with male who advised someone from side of road threw firecrackers in his buggy. No one injured. Area checked and no one was found in area.

July 22

1:57 p.m., Butternut Road, Newbury. Caller received an email that other persons had information from the webcam and will publish all her private information on the internet unless she pays them with 800 bitcoin.

July 24

8:37 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. Caller thinks she was being followed and knows who it might be. She explained to deputy that multiple drivers were following her closely and three paper towels were found in her mailbox. She mentioned her vision was failing and she was unable to identify a vehicle or an individual. After a brief discussion about her perception and other possibilities, she claims she feels better about the situation.

THEFT

July 19

6:07 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Female is in the lobby to make a report for theft of 2-3 firearms. Report taken.

July 25

3:30 p.m., Snow Road, Newbury. Caller needs to make a report for theft. A male stole several guns and jewelry, and he believes he took them to Geauga Pawn. Party located his property at Geauga Pawn and will pay to get it back. Party does not want to file charges at this time.
