The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 30 through Sept. 5, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 436 calls during this period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Sept. 3
6:54 a.m., Cutts Road, Hambden. Cow in roadway traveling north. GOA/UTL.
Sept. 4
5:40 p.m., Dianne Drive, Newbury. Pit bull attacked her dog and killed it. Pit bull belongs across the street and neighbors took it inside. Dog warden called in. Caller was on her property with her family dog when a pit bull ran across the street, attacked and killed her dog. Photos taken. Deputy went to residence of pit bull owner at 14552 Linda Drive and received no answer. While attempting to contact pit bull owner, another Linda Drive resident completed written statement claiming the same pit bull lunged at his kids. Claim GHA was notified and owner hides the dog when they arrive.
OVERDOSE
Sept. 3
8:43 a.m., Fincherie Drive, Chardon. 22-year-old female heroin overdose. She is breathing. Report to follow.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 30
10:25 a.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Male with a guitar is playing near cheese tent. He cannot play his guitar and was told that. Male is allowed to be at fair but must leave his equipment outside.
7:53 p.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Someone left a white bag on the caller’s porch. Caller believes there may be feces in it. She wants fingerprints. Caller will call back when and if she returns.
Aug. 31
7:24 a.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Suspicious campers by the directors tent. Possibly squatters. Friend was arrested on a warrant by MFPD.
8:35 p.m., U.S. 422, Auburn. Found a bag of bones at LaDue. Deputies will go back to investigate. She will respond also.
Sept. 3
10:40 a.m., Hill Drive, Russell. Digging a septic and think they dug up some ammo.
THEFT
Aug. 31
2:48 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Theft of about 500 stickers at the Geauga Democratic Party.
5:19 p.m., North Cheshire Street, Burton. Three totes of dancing puppets stolen from the dancing puppet booth at Chester Court midway.
Sept. 2
1:45 p.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Caller states one of two people stole money from her purse and one of them is posting lewd photos of her on Facebook. Victim believes she had more than $300 stolen from her when she drove them to the fair this weekend.
THREATENING
Sept. 4
2:22 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Female told from Payday loan she was going to be arrested. Advice.
