Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 385 calls during this period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Sept. 29

2:45 a.m., Welk Road, Chardon. Female took the wrong car from the bar and is highly intoxicated. Female is lost. OSHP not available. Caller states she blacked out and has no idea how she got out to Welk Road and that there were people with her at one time but unknown where those people are now. Arrested for disorderly intoxication.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Sept. 27

4:50 p.m., Messenger Road, Auburn. Caller would lie to turn over some prescriptions he has and would like to make a report of someone over prescribing prescriptions. He did not want to go into detail. Deputy advised. Caller currently is going through marital issues. Wife has been using prescriptions pills and caller believes their dog’s vet is prescribing the medication. Report to follow.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Sept. 27

2:02 p.m., Helmut Drive, Chardon. Neighbor is throwing leaves into my yard. Ongoing problem. Deputy advised. Neighbor was once again advised not to put leaves in her neighbor’s yard.

4 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Caller states there is a contractor at the house and he cut the wires to the house. He is now threatening the caller. He has a machete and a horse whip. He also has a knife on his belt. He doesn’t appear to be stable, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.   

Oct. 1

5:56 p.m., Forest Road, Claridon. Neighbor is in the back yard yelling at the caller, trying to pick a fight and is being hostile. Caller does not know what the issue is. Caller is safe away from the male. No threats made. Advice given to both complainant and neighbor.

FRAUD

Sept. 27

5:24 p.m., Morgan Road, Montville. Caller was scammed by a person he thought was Chase Bank. He has given them a total of $10,000 in gift cards. Report taken.

Sept. 30

3:05 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Purchase made from American Express, $900. Caller was able to stop the sale, but would like a report.

Oct. 2

12:58 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Over phone theft. Victim was contacted by a male claiming to be an attorney requesting bail money for the victim’s son. Victim purchased $2,000 worth of Home Depot cards and provided suspect with the gift card numbers and pins.

HARASSMENT

Oct. 1

10:18 p.m., Longview Drive, Newbury. Caller states two people came to the residence and were harassing him. They have since left. One male is upset over a Facebook video and advised caller he was going to sue him for slander. Caller advised slander would not apply since it’s clearly the male in the video and he is not a public official. Male left when caller told him to leave. Caller was advised to send male a certified letter as well telling him to stay off the property. Advice given.

Oct. 2

10:52 a.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. A guy is harassing me in person. He was in the middle of the street yelling stuff at me. He is a tannish-color truck and is leaving now. Deputy advised. Complainant advised guy was mocking her children and telling her that he will get her out of the neighborhood. Complainant advised she already called housing and she wished to document this only. Clear.

INJURED PERSON

Sept. 28

2:38 p.m., Edgewater Drive, Newbury. Caller is requesting a rescue squad. She states he hit himself. He was masturbating and we were arguing. CopeLine called in. Called them and hung up. They were not able to get him back on the line. Was treated at Geauga hospital, released and taken into custody for obstruction of official business. Is now in the custody of the GCSO jail.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Sept. 28

6:42 p.m., Jug Street, Troy. Three teenage Amish children throwing apples at vehicles. Males are on the tree line on 422 west of Jug, north side of the road. Deputy advised. Area checked and no one was found in area.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 29

6:51 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. Four Amish males running with beer. Males fled on foot, dropping evidence. Evidence collected.

THEFT

Oct. 1

10:18 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Burton. Caller reports they are missing over $2,000. Caller is 40 minutes away. She wants fingerprints from an envelope. They haven’t checked the stash of money since August.
