Jan. 3-9, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 3-9, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 356 calls during this period.

ASSAULT

Jan. 5

2:16 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. 78-year-old female attacked another resident. They would like her sent for evaluation. Victim does not have any injuries. Deputy advised. 87-ydear-old male was sitting around the table playing “hit the beach ball” and was hit in the head with beachball while he was not looking. No injury.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Jan. 3

7:31 p.m., Creighton Lane, Auburn. Caller’s dad is drunk. He is yelling at caller and threatened to put bullets in his head. No weapons, no drug use, no guns in house. Caller home with siblings. Father is an alcoholic and has anger issues. Written statements received. Father arrested and transported to GCSO jail on domestic violence charges.

FRAUD

Jan. 8

10:43 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. New neighbor, ex-Amish taxi driver, borrowed $1,400 from the caller to pay rent. He has not paid caller back. She said she would pay us back Monday. Check already cleared the bank. Caller advised to file a civil suit against ex-Amish taxi driver to obtain the money. Advice given to caller about loaning money. Responding officer unable to contact neighbor.

Jan. 9

11:13 a.m., Frazier Drive, Munson. Foreign speaking male said he could give caller a lower interest rate on his credit card. Card number, SSN, mother’s maiden name, date of birth given to male. Caller unsure if she was the victim or a scam or a legitimate credit card offer. No signs of use. Caller canceled her credit card for safe measures. Additional advice given.

ROAD RAGE

Jan. 5

5:44 p.m., Clarkwood Drive, Chardon. Male was walking his dog with his daughter and a car came speeding down the road. Caller flagged him to slow down. He got out screaming and waived a gun stating he was a cop. Caller stated this is the second encounter with this man. Driver claims neighbor jumped in front of him and prevented him from opening his car door. Report taken.

THREATENING

Jan. 4

3:05 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Caller states there was a male at this house threatening him. Caller doesn’t know him, but he believes he is an employee of the tree company he hired. Caller has video. He states the male pushed him and then pinned him down. Deputy advised. Report taken.

Jan. 6

4:49 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Guest checked in this morning at the Manor House, gave a name and no other information. He used a cash account so they have no info on him. He is in his 40s-50s and is in room now. He threatened the cook and told her that a “scorpion was going to sting her in the vagina.” He is making the staff and guests feel uncomfortable. He told people his street name is “Masterpiece the Pimpin’ Pastor” and his girlfriend with the name of “f$%@ing cowboy” was going to show up soon. Spoke with staff and they advised they looked him up online and he was a known pedophile, and they feel uncomfortable with him being there. He is still in his room but keeps coming out to smoke and then says inappropriate things when he is out. Male claims he was quoting bible verses. He was issued a refund by Punderson and taken to the lobby of Post 1 to wait for a taxi.
