The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 7-13, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 347 calls during this period.
ANIMAL ABUSE
Feb. 8
8:46 a.m., Bainbridge Road, Auburn. Caller says dog has been left out for several days and does not believe it is being taken care of. Deputy spoke to homeowner who stated the dog has been out for an hour and is being taken care of. Advice provided.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Feb. 12
9:47 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. 4-5 cows near the road. No fence on 44 south of Bell. Deputy advised. Owner was made aware and the cows had broken through the fence, and he is fixing it. Advice provided. Cows never left the property.
ASSAULT
Feb. 13
11:12 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Caller and neighbor got into a physical altercation. Neighbor pushed caller to the ground. He owns weapons, did not use one, no squad needed. Caller lives in front portion of residence. She went into a common area and went to shut a fuse off when neighbor pushed her to ground. He has threatened her in the past week twice. Caller believes he and his brother make and sell meth. Caller says she was grabbed by the neck and thrown to the ground. Report taken.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Feb. 13
12:07 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller requesting officer to meet him at JNS Motors. Paid a bill but it bounced from an account caller needed to update the bank on. Owner is threatening caller that if he doesn’t get there in 15 minutes, he is going to have caller arrested. Caller on way to JNS from Cleveland. Caller is waiting for officer at the Circle K. Caller paid his bill at JNS with no issues.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Feb. 9
1:42 p.m., Overture Drive, Newbury. Husband and wife are fighting. Wife is throwing stuff and bit the husband. No weapons, no drugs or alcohol. Female has gotten physical in the past. Caller wants male out of the house. Report taken. Female arrested.
FRAUD
Feb. 9
3:35 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Female in lobby to report fraud. Complainant notified by Life Lock that an unknown person attempted to open a Citi bank credit card in her name. Life Lock requested complainant have incident documented. Complainant not out any funds and credit card not issued. Advice given.
SUSPICIOUS
Feb. 8
7:20 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Someone threw an orange at the caller’s house. Caller advised this is the second time. IR only at this time; an orange was thrown at the residence. No damage.
THEFT
Feb. 11
8 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Two catalytic converters stolen off our company vehicles. Report taken.
TRAFFIC CRASH
Feb. 9
7:48 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Small 4-door car. Caller advised male is intoxicated and can smell the alcohol, and there are beer cans in the car. Deputy advised. Received another call. Male does appear to be intoxicated and was asking caller to pull him out of ditch. Male arrested for OVI.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Feb. 8
3:32 p.m., Tavern Road, Troy. Buggy was leaving a private drive and went into the ditch. The horse was stuck in the ditch but got out with citizens’ help. Horse is OK and driver said he didn’t need a squad.
