April 10-16, 2020
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 10-16, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 189 calls during this period.
CITIZEN ASSIST
April 15
11:21 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller says he’s in the COVID-19 program and does not feel safe there because he believes someone in the residence has coronavirus. Male says he currently does not have any symptoms. He is at Joy’s Place. Male said he does not have any other place to stay, no friends or family he can stay with. Advice given.
April 16
5:16 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Need to talk to a deputy about our son. He is an addict and we want him gone. He is abusing drugs and has been causing damage to the home. He got his stimulus check and caller believes he will go buy heroin and get out of control later. Requested information on getting son out of the house. Advice given on eviction process and also obtaining a CPO. Caller told to c all 911 if son gets out of control and becomes a danger.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
April 12
12:33 p.m., Bell Street, Newbury. 24-year-old female high on heroin. She is tearing up the house. She did heroin yesterday and is vomiting now. Caller said she is going through withdrawals. Guns in house are hidden. She does have access to knives. Female left the home with a friend.
April 13
6:16 p.m., Dawson Drive, Auburn. Caller’s son is threatening her. 46-year-old male said he wants to kill her. He is in the basement. No weapons. Unknown drug use today. Mom can hear him breaking stuff in basement. He goes crazy when he needs meth. Caller is afraid he will burn the house down. Mom said if she has a gun she would shoot them both, but then said she would be too afraid. Son denies threatening to kill mother . . . said he wished she would drop dead and did not threaten to kill her. Protection order advice given again to caller and she said she would contact the court.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
April 11
7:10 a.m., West High Street, Middlefield. Female came in saying “he hurt me.” Male is still in car out front. Female has a black eye and broken rib. They have his keys; he is intoxicated. Occurred at Swine Creek Trailer Park. Male arrested on felony charges.
FRAUD
April 11
8:06 a.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Caller was scammed out of $1500. Deputy advised and report taken.
April 13
9:52 a.m., Plank Road, Montville. Victim received a bonus check for Christmas and deposited it into her bank through mobile deposit. Check was cashed a second time at another bank. Money was taken out of the victim’s account.
HEALTH
April 10
6:21 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Caller advised there are at least 10 cars in the parking lot. Caller said he called the health department and there was no answer and no way to leave a message. Deputy entered the bar and found patrons were picking up takeout and keeping a safe distance from one another. No one was observed drinking.
10:08 p.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Checking the basketball courts at the rear of the auction barn for large congregations of people. No one found.
SUSPICIOUS
April 10
6:10 p.m., Fowlers Mill Road, Munson. Caller received a surprise “pop up” birthday card in the mail from Texas. She is uncomfortable and would like to speak with a deputy. Envelope sent from Fort Worth. Caller’s birthday is April 12 but she does not know these people nor does she have friends/relatives in Texas. She requested information be documented and said she would contact postal inspector.
