The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 24-30, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 233 calls during this period.

ANIMAL ABUSE

April 29

2:57 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Man in a Chevy sedan driving back and forth from the park the Munson Elementary and the dog is chasing him. Caller believes he is running the dog to death. He’s done this several times for over two hours. Deputy advised. Report taken. Field summons issued.

BURGLARY

April 27

7:29 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Someone broke into the business last night. Tools and money are missing. Suspect kicked in the side door. Report taken, evidence collected. Subject arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments.

CITIZEN ASSIST

April 27

2:32 p.m., Crestwood Drive, Middlefield. She is home. She has the weapons ready for deputies to take to evidence per court order. Six guns seized, three handguns and three rifles. All were photographed and placed in evidence room.

April 28

9:42 a.m. , Franks Road, Auburn. $1,500 worth of fishing equipment out of garage. Deputy advised. Caller located fishing equipment in corner of garage.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

April 29

6:25 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Ongoing issue with a neighbor, who put a mannequin in the woods to make caller’s dog bark. She wanted incident documented in case the neighbor calls about her dogs barking. She said she took a photo of the mannequin. Caller advised incident would be documented.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

April 24

7:33 p.m., Crestwood Drive, Middlefield. Female states her boyfriend pushed her and ran into the house. There are guns inside. She has eight children in the house. He has a knife and is back outside. Caller states there is an AR15 and several other guns in the house. Female denied rescue. Both parties are outside. Caller does not see any weapons on him; her children said he has a knife. Male arrested for DV.

FRAUD

April 30

9:26 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Caller was scammed out of $1,650 for an apartment located in Akron. She transferred money online and has been unable to make contact with the owner since. Report to follow.

HARASSMENT

April 25

9:45 a.m., Bigelow Road, Burton. Caller is receiving harassing phone calls. Received a call last night around 1 a.m. Unknown party on phone said he wanted to f&#% his wife then hung up. This morning another unknown party with the same phone number stated he received a call from caller. Info only at this time.

HEALTH

April 25

3:59 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. There is a large group of motorcycle riders at Iron Horse Saloon, westside. Caller is upset and believes they are violating social distancing. No cause.

4:07 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. 25-30 buggies parked at a residence on Clay. Property owner warned for hosting a large gathering of people on his property. According to owner, gathering was for religious purposes. He claimed he was not aware of the limitations on religious gatherings and agreed to cease until cleared by department of health.

MEDICAL

April 30

11:31 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. 25-year-old female barely conscious. Female was in the bathroom. Narcan administered. Female found hiding in a spare bedroom. Meth and heroin was found on her. Heroin, scale and needles were located in bedroom where she overdosed.

SUSPICIOUS

April 25

9:48 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Drinking party in the sugar shack behind the barn. Large number of people. Need squad for intoxicated person. 17-year-old male hosted a party with alcohol without the consent of his parents. One 16-year-old male was transported to the ER for a medical evaluation after consuming a large quantity of alcohol. Other charges include purchasing alcohol for underage consumption and violation of the department of health quarantine order. Report to follow.

April 27

6:06 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Caller found a screen damaged on the back of the house with what appears to be blood on the house. No forced entry observed. Screen popped off when an animal was getting attacked by a coyote and hit the house.

April 28

8:51 p.m., Williams Road, Hambden. Caller advised her teenage son was sent some files through an online video game platform and it is believed to be unknown people’s credit card numbers. Caller believes her son’s friends are using fake/other people’s credit card information to make gaming purchases online. Caller said the numbers are not hers; she just wanted to report suspicious activity. Advice given.

April 29

8:16 a.m., Sunrise Lane, Troy. Someone was in my yard with a flashlight at 3:15 a.m. They also messed with the camera. Caller woke up to the notifications this morning. Deputy advised. Insect crawling on the camera. No cause.

8:48 a.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Someone turned off the entry runway light last night. They physically had to use a wrench and open the boxes. Complainant has taken security measures to limit the access to the control panel for the light. Wanted the incident documented and will also document it with the FAA.

THEFT

April 25

8:26 a.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Last night at closing, two females and a male were filling their purses with items, caught on video. Complainant does not know what items were taken. Male was switching price tags on the items he was purchasing, which complainant caught. Complainant will tell subjects to leave the business if they come again. Last seen in a black Cadillac 4-door with faded temporary tag. Complainant will pass information on to other Amish businesses. Extra patrol requested during business hours.

THREATENING

April 28
1:36 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Old neighbor called up and said he was going to kill all of them. He did not have a how or when. He called caller’s wife three times today. Deputy advised. Old neighbor called wife a whore and useless. Said he was going to show up and kill her and hurt h4r. Wants this documented at this time.

WATER RESCUE

3:18 p.m., Stone Road, Newbury. Male on a tractor stuck in Dollar Lake. Male is stable, not under water. He has leg issues and is unable to get out on his own. Newbury rescue transported male to UH Geauga.

WEAPON OFFENSE

April 24

2:53 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Neighbor is sitting in his front yard shooting a gun into the field. Spoke with neighbor and he is shooting groundhogs in the backyard. Safety advice given.

5:51 p.m., Olmar Drive, Chardon. Neighbor is shooting a gun on his property. He is shooting at a washing machine in the yard. There are children playing outside. Male admitted to shooting a .22 long rifle through a washer and into a shed. Numerous bullet holes were observed on the back of the shed, which faces the property of another.
