The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 17-23, 2020.
ASSAULT
July 18
4:43 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Second assault at the first aid station at Pioneer Waterland. Three females, two males and several kids. Only the victim is at the first aid station; all other parties somewhere in the park. Report taken; suspects unknown at this time.
CITIZEN ASSIST
July 18
10:39 a.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Neighbor pulled out of her drive and veered toward complainant as if to hit him when he was getting his mail.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
July 21
3:24 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller needs to make a report for a dispute he is having with someone via text message. Caller purchased a motorcycle from a male and the male says he is going to report the motorcycle as stolen. Complainant advised dispatch he does not want to make a report at this time.
EXTRA PATROL
July 21
9:07 p.m., Epping Trail, Munson. Extra patrol overnight. Caller got a delivery from Value City and one of the delivery men was a Black male. When caller asked the workers to reposition the piece, he went off and accused caller of treating him like a slave. He continued acting badly until they were gone. Checks OK.
FRAUD
July 22
3:47 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Caller was swindled out of $370 by a company claiming to be Direct TV. Deputy advised. Report taken.
July 23
1:32 p.m., Butternut Road, Munson. Fraud call. Gave $1,000 to someone. Scam attempt from an Indian scammer claiming the caller’s information was compromised. Caller gave scammer the last four of her SSN and some bank info. Caller has since called her bank and reported the scam, and had her bank freeze her accounts. Transunion.com info given to caller as well for her to file for credit monitoring.
HARASSMENT
July 23
9:42 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Neighbor is semi-harassing me. Caller advised his neighbor was upset over alleged bullet holes to the neighbor’s barn. Caller believes they are carpenter bee holes. Holes look like something struck material since there is paint flaked away. Carpenter bees bore round and smooth holes and don’t chip away paint. Advice given.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
July 17
11:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Large Amish party called in by homeowner. He is not home. His daughter is throwing a party, approximately 100 people with underage alcohol consumption. Homeowner would like the party shut down. He was told by his neighbor. Party shut down and all guests made arrangements for a pick up. All opened and unopened alcoholic beverages were emptied.
July 20
10:39 p.m., Blue Spruce Trail, Auburn. Teenage boy is very angry, won’t turn down the music. He is mad because his mother took his phone. No weapons, drugs or alcohol. Caller advised she just wanted deputies to speak with her son and they did. Advice given.
THEFT
July 19
1:36 p.m., Hermitage Road, Chardon. Two graves had items stolen. Meet caller at the cemetery. Two Civil War markers missing from two graves next to each other. Caretaker wants documentation only.
July 21
8:03 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Deputy approached by clerk at Marathon gas station about a theft of wine he discovered while reviewing cameras for Burton PD’s theft case. One of the suspects from Burton’s case was observed on camera taking a bottle of wine off the shelf after being told it was after hours and he could not get the wine. Suspect then went back down the aisle while his friend shopped and took a bottle of wine off the shelf and out it down his pants. Report taken; charges to follow.
THREATENING
July 23
12:05 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Text messages threatening to kill me on my 18th birthday. Caller reported she heard from a friend that the subject “planned on killing her on her 18th birthday,” which already has come and gone. Caller has not evidence to substantiate this claim and desires the incident to be documented only. Responding officer gave caller instructions on how to obtain a protection order should she desire.
