The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 21-27, 2020.
AGENCY ASSIST
Aug. 21
2:14 p.m., Grove Road, Troy. Deputy assisted Geauga County Health Department with inspecting the Cleveland Parachute Club. Upon inspection of the property, it was determined they were running an illegal campground and multiple health code violations. Health department gave then until 10 p.m. Aug. 21 to clear out the campground. Deputy will have night shift check on the property and report any violations to health department. Advice provided.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Aug. 21
12:15 a.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Four horses walking in the middle of the road toward Hermitage. Left onto Hermitage.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Aug. 23
6:17 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Caller sounds intoxicated. Advised boyfriend hit her in the face, scraped her side and broke her glasses. He is registered sex offender. Caller declined squad. Male left residence. Male arrested for DV and disorderly conduct.
DRUGS
Aug. 21
10:07 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Employees requesting K-9 for sniff through building due to the smell of raw marijuana. Employees told no drug K-9 available. They will try to reschedule.
ELDER ABUSE
Aug. 26
2:06 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Ravenwood is in the lobby with an elderly person who is being abused by another male. Threatens, steals and pushes him around. He just walks into his house. Report taken.
FRAUD
Aug. 21
7:44 p.m., Nelson Ledge Road, Parkman. 88-year-old male gave all his information to someone over the phone claiming they were from social security. He gave them his bank information and social security number. He has multiple bank accounts. He did not give his account information. Caller advised his social security number has not been used anywhere. Caller advised to freeze his credit and keep checking his credit report.
Aug. 25
7:15 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Caller reports she received a call her grandson was in a Columbus jail. She withdrew $10,000 from her account and a “bail bondsman” came to the house and picked up the cash.
Aug. 27
11:04 a.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. $15,000 to $16,000 computer scam. Report taken.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 27
3:21 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller is concerned her son has two bikes he claims he found in the trash. They are in the garage. They are really nice bikes. Mother thinks her 17-year-old son may have stolen them. Would like a deputy to come out and take a look at them. Spoke with mother who states something was not right with the bikes in her yard. Deputy spoke with son who stated he got them from a house in the City of Chardon which stated free. Advice provided to both parties.
THEFT
Aug. 21
3:57 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Large political sign stolen and caller is very upset. Female just wanted it documented that someone stole her Biden political sign sometime through the night hours. Advice given.
Aug. 23
4:49 p.m., Champlain Trail, Auburn. Male had a group of people over the home last night and discovered today jewelry valued at $2,000 was stolen from the residence. Report taken.
VANDALISM
Aug. 22
11:31 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Teenagers spray painted BLM on the Dollar General parking lot. Three teens are in the car. They are waiting on a customer. See report.
