The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 2-8, 2020.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Oct. 3

11:26 a.m., Henning Drive, Chardon. Subject wants to speak with a deputy. 25 years ago he ran an illegal pipe for the sewer system. Advice given.

Oct. 6

5:14 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Male in the lobby would like to speak to someone regarding a warrant out of Summit County. States female living in Huntsburg is a convicted felon, on the run, dealing meth and is in possession of a firearm. Female does have an active warrant. Dispatch confirmed and checked with Summit County who advised they would not accept her due to COVID. Complainant advised.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Oct. 4

5:58 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Deputy met with caller who purchased $400 worth of eBay gift cards from Dollar General. They told him his cards would be loaded in 24 hours and they still don’t work. Caller gave activation code and card number to his soon-to-be wife, who currently was out of the country. Caller was told by her the cards would not work and she wanted more gift cards. Deputy spoke with employees who showed transaction receipts and video from when caller purchased the cards. Cards were activated according to employees. Caller advised his soon-to-be wife was trying to use the cards to get a hotel room in another country because she was in trouble. Deputy advised caller he is likely being scammed. Caller was given advice to log onto eBay’s website to see if the money was loaded onto the cards and if it already was used. He advised he would contact deputy with findings. Nothing criminal occurred at the store. Documentation only at this time.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Oct. 4

9:19 a.m., Cutts Road, Hambden. Male was slapped by female while trying to get his belongings. Caller hung up. Female transported to jail.

FRAUD

Oct. 5

8:50 a.m., Headwater Lane, Claridon. Caller is the victim of a scam of $140 on eBay.

Oct. 6

9:33 a.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Female was scammed out of approximately $2,000. Amazon gift card scam. Financial institutions are handling and complainant wanted incident on file.

Oct. 7

8:12 p.m., Raintree Drive, Munson. Caller provided her SSN and bank info to a scam caller. Caller is not at a loss of money. She received notification from LifeLock, which she subscribes to, that her information may have been compromised, since she provided it to the scammer that called her. She cancelled her credit card as well. She requested documentation.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Oct. 4

3:34 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. West of 608 just past car dealers five boys fighting in the street, possibly over  a mini bike. Boys were just playing around, not fighting. Parents at home.

OVERDOSE

Oct. 5

9:27 a.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. 27-year-old male overdose. They gave him Narcan. Male is turning blue. Deputy advised. CPR in progress. He has been down 10 minutes. Two doses of Narcan. CPR in progress. They advised male just got out of jail. Jail intake advised. Newbury Rescue transported one male to UH Geauga.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 3

2:36 p.m., Stonegate Drive, Munson. Female used to live across the street from caller. She keeps driving up and down the road and now is pulling into the driveway when the new owner is not home. She is gone now.

9:08 p.m., McCall Road, Parkman. Dive bombed by planes from Grove Road. Plane was 100 feet above house. Plane has no muffler and they are running with no lights and dumping out parachutes. Plane keeps missing runway. Dispatch made contact with Cleveland Skydiving Center and they are actively jumping. They state they have proper paperwork from FAA. Center advises they finished their last jump for night. Nothing observed. Skydivers are done for night.

THEFT

Oct. 3

3:07 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male stealing Trump signs. Caller has blocked the male in. Male is in a white Hyundai. One male arrested for theft and trespass.

Oct. 4

8:13 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Caller advised her Biden sign was stolen. Sign was taken during the night. Advice given.

TRESPASSING

Oct. 3

4:48 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Female is in the ER waiting area with boyfriend and dog, stating they have nowhere to leave and no money or food. They are not there for medical reasons, but they won’t leaver. Dog was not on a leash. UH Police will handle. If GCSO is needed, he will call.
