The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 29-Feb. 4, 2021.

ANIMAL BITE

Jan. 30

1:04 p.m., Cutts Road, Hambden. Door Dash driver bit by dog. Dog is now in house. Driver is in her car. Deputy advised.

ASSAULT

Jan. 29

10:13 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female was assaulted, has a jaw injury. Unknown female suspect’s name. Mixed female, female is still outside. Suspect supposedly is owner of bar. This is stemming over an argument about the National Anthem. Suspect back in bar. Caller very uncooperative. Suspect is intoxicated and so is caller. See report.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Jan. 31

12:07 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Cat and child stuck in tree. Called in station.

Feb. 4

3:58 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Caller is concerned because his Amish neighbor put in a mill and the saw dust keeps blowing into his bond. He is worried it will kill the fish. He states the vents are not installed properly. Believes it is an EPA violation and wants it documented. Deputies advised. Caller referred to civil court.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Jan. 29

10:27 a.m., Hart Road, Montville. Caller advised his wife is at the location with a moving company taking items out of the home. Caller advised they are not in the middle of a divorce. He is en route home from work. Caller does not know who is there with her. She just called him and said she’s packing things and leaving. No history of violence, possible intoxication. Caller advised she drinks often. Caller called back and advised the moving company left and they have worked it out and no longer requesting a deputy to respond.

Jan. 30

6:46 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Neighbors having arguments and disputes for years. Caller not making much sense, talking about legal cases, biological families and baby father. Advised both parties to document problems with each other and contact housing authority. No violence or threats of violence between the two.

EXPLOSIVES

Feb. 3

8:19 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Very close to caller’s house. Heard it, but didn’t see anything. Another caller said it sounds like it was a Loring. One explosion that shook caller’s house. Caller believes it was lit off in their front yard, saw the light. Next caller thinks it came from the park. Caller has whole thing on video.

FRAUD

Jan. 30

11:04 a.m., Indian Hills Drive, Auburn. Female is receiving unemployment and never signed up for it and has been working all along. Spoke with caller. Advice given to contact OJFS, FTC and credit check websites. Other resources provided.

Feb. 3

2:22 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. IR requested. Complainant received 1099 for $18,804.18 for unemployment.

HARASSMENT

Jan. 29

10:33 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female keeps calling and harassing caller. Deputy advised. Caller wants deputy to advise female and another subject to stop calling the business. Female is upset over a hairdo. Sergeant contacted female and told her to stop calling the business or they would be charged. Both agreed to stop calling.

Feb. 2

5:31 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. Driver confronted female Dollar General employee who keeps rejecting his advances. Manager spoke with deputy yesterday. Male already left. Deputies responded to Dollar General after the 18-year-old victim was approached for fifth time in 30 days by a suspicious male. According to written statement, male got in her face in an intimidating manner. She went behind the counter and called dispatch while an employee copies license plate on suspect’s car.

SUSPICIOUS

Jan. 29

10:13 p.m., Grant Street, Hambden. Someone threw eggs at caller’s windshield, near King Kone. She does not want a report, just check the area. Deputy toured area. GOA/UTL.

THEFT

Jan. 30

9:07 a.m., Brookfield Drive, Auburn. Caller advised someone was going through his car overnight. He saw the footage on his video cameras. Caller isn’t sure if anything was taken.

5:38 p.m., Brookfield Drive, Auburn. Someone took a portable flash drive that has all caller’s addresses and personal information for her company. Caller states he saw someone walking down the road at 7 a.m. Person had on running gear, black tights, blue running jacket, black hood. Caller could not see his face.
