The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 5-11, 2021.

AGENCY ASSIST

March 7

5:40 p.m., Joann Drive, Conneaut. Bomb squad call out to Conneaut for a tank shell found behind a house. Military tank shell located in creek. Round was collected by bomb tech and being stores for U.S. military.

CITIZEN ASSIST

March 5

10:42 p.m., Hillcrest Avenue, Middlefield. Caller’s daughter came home and is under the influence of meth. She is out of it and caller wants her out of the house. She does not reside there. Caller given advice on evicting 33-year-old daughter who is using drugs again. Daughter was sleeping on arrival. Also advised to contact her probation officer in Warren.

March 7

7:12 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Caller would like a call from a deputy concerning a civil matter with his parents. Caller advised his mother will not turn over some property that belongs to him. He said his mother removed some guns and a diamond ring from his trailer nine months ago when he was in jail for a few days. He said he needs money and wants to pawn the items, but cannot get them back. Deputy attempted to call mother but was unable to make contact. Advice given to caller.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

March 10

5:37 p.m., Cardinal Drive, Troy. Managers of Troy Oaks have issued caller a parking violation for parking on the road when the bus was dropping off kids. Caller is confused about the violation and the manager’s double standards, and has requested a phone call. Deputy explained to caller that Troy Oaks is private property and the association bylaws are a civil matter.

March 11

6:20 p.m., Music Street, Newbury. Caller was hiking on his property today and was near his property line behind his house. Neighbor was sitting, watching him. Later neighbor called the caller and said he didn’t want him walking near the property line and other stuff caller felt was threatening. Deputy met with neighbor who was intoxicated but cooperative. He admitted to giving caller a hard time and claimed he moved to Newbury for peace and quiet. Deputy advised neighbor caller is allowed to use his property as he sees fit. Neighbor apologized and told deputy he would try to be a better neighbor.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

March 9

7:18 p.m., Bean Road, Munson. Adult daughter and her children riding ATVs on caller’s property against her wishes. Verbal dispute only, no violence, no alcohol or drug use. Three kids in the house. Children ride recklessly, on the road, with no safety equipment, and earlier today the child rolled the ATV hitting his head. Caller given advice about evicting his daughter from the home and helping her move into a new residence.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

March 6

2:23 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. 17-year-old male was brought in. Father came into the room with him and punched him while the curtain was closed and he was not being tended to. Minor said he does not wish to press charges, but hospital staff would like to speak with deputies. Deputy advised. Father arrested for DV, DV threats and disorderly conduct.

HARASSMENT

March 6

6:59 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller received two dozen roses from someone she has not spoken to in 25 years. Caller called the company and got the male’s name. Caller broke up with this male 31 years ago, went on to stalk caller and she never filed a police report. Male was showing up at caller’s work and house, and would leave caller flowers in her detached garage. Caller would go shopping and he would show up. Caller said it eventually stopped and he quit trying to contact her. Caller said up until yesterday she had not heard from male in over 21 years. Caller said he is turning 80 this month and caller feels he may have dementia starting. Caller only wanted it documented in case he started stalking her again. Advice given.

INFO REPORT

March 5

9:59 a.m., Jug Street, Troy. Needs a report about a GPS tracking device found in his vehicle’s glovebox. Male moved out of Geauga County and was referred to his local agency where he now resides. Advice given.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

March 5

2:17 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Criminal damaging in the jail. Vandalism report at jail. Bunk was ripped from the wall.

SUSPICIOUS

March 5

12:21 a.m., Hidden Glen Trail, Chardon. Complainant states three males, one with a bag, two with backpacks and one appeared to may have had a long gun/riffle with him. Heading down Hidden Glen toward Wilson Mills. Caller’s dog started barking and caller noticed the men and did not recognize them. Checked area. UTL/GOA.

March 6

11:55 p.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Old State Road, north of Pearl, passing motorist said they thought they saw a body on side of the road. Deputy was conducting stationary traffic when two females approached in hysterics. Females claim they saw a body on side of Old State, under the guardrail. Deputy searched area on both sides of bridge and only found a deceased deer. Nothing suspicious observed.

March 8

3:40 p.m., Bridge Road, Middlefield. High school kid at the intersection laying on his back with his knees in the air. Middlefield checked the area. UTL.

4:44 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield. Male two drives down is ranting and acting crazy. He either is on drugs or drunk. He is not Amish. Caller advised truck is now “burning rubber” at the dead end. Caller advising subject came up the drive, was confrontational and caller’s brother had to push subject down. Brother is outside with subject and deputies. Caller advised subject comes out here for about  four days and gets drunk. Brother advised subject was in his face yelling at him and he pushed him on his “ass.” Deputy spoke with subject and he spoke with slurred speech. Subject admitted to drinking. Deputy explained this was the second time he had been to this location for him being drunk and yelling. Deputy explained to subject that he needs to act like an adult and if he cannot when he drinks, do not drink.
