The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 16-22, 2021.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

April 18

1:25 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Kangaroo in yard! Found owner across the street.

April 20

6:41 a.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller advised a bus driver called to report there are two donkeys walking on Thwing toward Chardon. No further location or information. Caller woke the neighbor and believes the donkeys were taken to their home.

CITIZEN ASSIST

April 16

2:22 p.m., Hosmer Road, Parkman. Got a scam call from FBI and wanted to talk to someone. Advice given. Complainant did not provide any information to caller.

April 18

11:29 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Bought house at sheriff’s sale. Previous owner trashed the home and took gutters, heat pump and gutted the kitchen. Advice given.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

April 17

11:06 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller wants to speak to a deputy about an issue he is having with tractor dealer over money he thinks he is owed. Dispute over $1,000 for a tractor deal. Dealer would not return the money. Advice given for small claims.

DISORDERLY

April 17

11 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Active bar fight, about 8 people. Caller is kicking everyone out and locking doors. No weapons. Everyone still in parking lot, six males and two females. Caller said no one is injured; no rescue squad is needed. One of the males at one time was getting choked out and turning purple when the fight was in progress. All stories differed; everyone involved declined rescue and did not wish to pursue charges. Two males involved were transported to their residences on Ascot Lane.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

April 20

11:20 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Caller states his drunk girlfriend showed up at the home and is now trying to leave. Female was hitting the male. Female is now sitting on the bed, not leaving. Deputy advised. Female was upset caller liked another girl’s Facebook photos and was chasing him around the house. Both parties refused to leave and they said they were safe and would call if they had other problems.

FRAUD

April 21

4:19 p.m., Stillwell Road, Claridon. Person from Amazon called complainant and said someone bought a television for $6,000 on a credit card that complainant used to have. Caller called his bank and all accounts and cards are OK. Male on phone wanted caller to go to Giant Eagle and show his ID to have this corrected.

5:05 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller reported his business credit card had been hacked online. Said the suspect had made purchases online with his card to West Marine for $4,597.32. Items the suspect bought were delivered to a bank-owned empty property in Lima, Ohio, and Doral, Fla. Caller said his credit card company was working with him to remove all the charges, but because of some misinformation from West Marine they are now adding charges back. Caller is again working with credit card company and just wanted incident documented.

SUSPICIOUS

April 16

9:53 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Caller advised he sent nude photos of himself, now someone is telling him to give them money or they will send the photos to his parents. They had caller’s card information and tried to take money from him, but he cancelled the card and now this person won’t leave him alone. Caller advised he doesn’t know who the person is that’s contacting him.

April 17

10:35 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. Multiple Amish buggies up and down the road, loud music and drinking. This has been going on for a while. A lot of buggies run between Pioneer and Kinsman. Area checked. Only found a couple of buggies in the area, no loud music heard and no traffic violations observed.

April 20

7:40 a.m., Mitchells Mill Road, Chardon. Security camera caught a prowler on property. Video will be emailed. Nothing taken from vehicle.

2:04 p.m., Hayes Road, Middlefield. Someone is making doctor appointments for caller’s deceased husband. Extra patrol requested.

9:56 p.m., Butternut Road, Munson. Deputy spoke to female who advised a male from church was trying to get close to her family and it was getting uncomfortable. She explained she has had an ongoing issue with an elderly man she knows from church but has escalated in past week. She explained somehow he found out where they lived and stopped by looking for her older teenage son, who was not home. Man told a family member the teen was going to take him to look at cars in Streetsboro. Caller is concerned about man and the attempts he has made in past to get her kids to go with him to different places. Deputy explained different options and caller said she would send a no trespass letter.

VANDALISM

April 18

10:06 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Hambden. Someone threw a pop can through his front glass sometime last night.

WEAPON OFFENSE

April 19

1 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Neighbor on the top of the hill is shooting his weapon toward the house at the bottom of the hill. Caller advised male was shooting at target above his residence across drive. Spoke with neighbor and advised to shoot on other side of driveway into creek bank. Advised caller to call back if any further issues.
