April 30-May 6, 2021

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 30-May 6, 2021.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

May 1

8:09 a.m., Industrial Circle, Parkman. Three cows running loose in the area. Unable to get cows back into fence on Agler Road.

ASSAULT

May 6

8:59 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Male advised he got into an argument with a neighbor, someone pinned him to the ground and the other male attacked him. Males have left the area. Caller’s hand is bleeding and possibly his head. Does not think he needs rescue. Caller does not know who they are. Said the house behind deals drugs. People are going in and out of there constantly. The vehicle pulled up the driveway to go to the other house to buy some dope and caller was laughing at them because they couldn’t back up and they got out and attacked him. Both males were white, possibly in their 20s or 30s. Driver jumped out and came at caller; passenger tried to be a peacemaker. Assault report taken.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

May 2

10:58 a.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Dispute with neighbor over trespassing and putting debris on caller’s property. They would like it documented. Deputy spoke with both parties who were advised to stay off each other’s property due to ongoing zoning dispute. Also advised to contact GCSO with any further issues.

5:31 p.m., Valentine Road, Thompson. Caller requests a deputy stop. He is going to do some target shooting in his yard and the neighbor told them if they shoot they will have hell to pay. Caller does not want any issues. Advice given to both parties.

May 5

6:28 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Township meeting. Two people refused to wear masks. Caller advised sheriff to send deputy. Two females immediately left upon arrival. Advised of the trespass law in Ohio.

FRAUD

May 1

10:48 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Male was scammed on Facebook into giving out his bank account information. He contacted his bank and found out no funds were stolen and the bank put a hold on his account.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

April 30

8:50 a.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller found his window shattered by golf balls. Believes he knows which neighbors did it. Deputy spoke with complainant and suspects’ mother. Kids hitting golf balls with a bat is the cause. Will handle it civilly.

ROAD RAGE

May 1

5:02 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller at the gas station attacked by another driver. Male struck caller in the face at the intersection. Caller told the male to get away, that he had a gun. Caller does not have a gun; he was just afraid at the time. Caller said they are traveling from Michigan to New York City. They alleged altercation turned physical. No injuries and they requested documentation only.

SICK/INJURED ANIMAL

May 5

8:15 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Deputy arrived on scene and observed a duck sitting in the grass. Attempted to call several wildlife rescue facilities without success. Second deputy arrived and said the duck appeared to have been shot and had zero use of its legs. Duck dispatched with one round.

SUSPICIOUS

April 30

1:59 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. There is a male sleeping in a car at the storage units. Car is behind the units. Checks OK. A male that works for a landscape company that operates out of the storage facility was sleeping in his car as well, waiting for start of work day.

11:39 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Need to make a report regarding statements made by an employee. An email was sent to all employees about mass shooting training. Employee responded to the email by saying “what if I already know how to do it and have my list made.” They advised him not to come in to work while they investigate it and will be terminating him, but need a police report.

May 6

11:20 a.m., Greentree Lane, Troy. Male has a post and is selling a weapon for alcohol. Aurora PD responded to post and has forwarded the text via email to dispatch. Concerned a male is asking for alcohol and has weapons. GCSO made contact with male and his wife. He advised he wanted to sell his firearm to have money to buy more alcohol. Male declined going to the hospital and also stated he did not have any feelings of harming himself or someone else.

THEFT

May 5

8:43 p.m., Trish Lane, Hambden. Contractors took change jars from the house. Value of a couple hundred dollars. Deputy advised. Theft report taken.
