The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 21-27, 2021.
AGENCY ASSIST
May 24
1:47 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Male left the hospital without them knowing and has IV access. Middlefield PD involved in his transport to hospital. Had a high blood alcohol level. Spoke with ER and was told as long as male doesn’t have an IV in either arm he does not need to come back. Male said he does not and refused to go back. Middlefield located male at home and he advised he was fine and not going back. There was no reason to make male go to hospital.
CITIZEN ASSIST
May 25
12:45 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Flowers came from someone. Caller is afraid they may be from her ex-husband, just released from prison. Deputy spoke with caller. She has no idea who would send her flowers. Sender did not write a note or leave any information. No threats or any criminal elements with this incident. Deputy explained to caller she could contact flower company or have a civil attorney send a subpoena requesting sender’s information. If sender happens to be the ex-husband, caller told she could obtain a CPO. No protection orders in place at this time. Caller has not heard from her ex-husband in approximately two years.
DRUGS
May 26
12:49 p.m., Adams Road, Middlefield. Found a container of drugs, blue substance and a vial. Narcotics items seized and will be entered into evidence.
FRAUD
May 27
9:16 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Total of $23,000. Phone call about my social security . Caller put the money on bitcoin. Foreign people are supposed to be calling in about an hour.
HARASSMENT
May 26
11:56 a.m., Roselawn Drive, Burton. Caller needs to speak to a deputy regarding harassment from someone who was pretending to be a female. Deputy advised. Male did not send any nude photos. He showed deputy his phone and only two face photos were observed. Advised to block subject on Instagram.
INJURED PERSON
May 22
3:59 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. 3-year-old kicked by a horse in the mouth. Vomiting blood. He is alert and breathing. Boy is near the garage.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
May 22
8:46 p.m., Waterfowl Lane, Munson. Underage party, several juveniles are there with alcohol. Deputy responded. No underage individuals observed. Homeowner contacted by phone. Stated there is a small party where kids are playing volleyball. No alcohol is being consumed by children and there are three adults on property.
May 23
1:34 p.m., Claridon Road, Chardon. Two male juveniles throwing rocks at vehicles. They were sitting under the bridge. When deputy slowed down they ran off, but deputy just saw them up on the bridge looking to see if deputy left. There are numerous rocks and also a plastic bottle in the road. Cleared bigger rocks off roadway. Checked area of juveniles. UTL.
LITTERING
May 23
9:52 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Dumping at the park, lawn chairs, a slide and other items. Trustees would like people notified to remove items by the morning. Caller has video and photos. Deputy spoke with one suspect. Will remove what he dumped.
NOISE PROBLEM
May 26
9:23 p.m., Dewey Road, Montville. Caller is upset the neighbor is mowing his grass late at night. Caller advised neighbor can be mean. Deputy advised. Upon arrival neighbor was done cutting grass and mower was turned off.
SUSPICIOUS
May 22
11:19 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller sounds intoxicated. Advised he sees a “procession of lights” in the sky, white in color. “They kept coming, nonstop.” Believes there were approximately 25 different objects. Caller believes they are UFOs over the lake and kept saying, “Wow, it was amazing and crazy.” Caller is at a friend’s house. Advised he has video, but has not watched it yet. If it is relevant, he will call back and show a deputy.
May 25
9:12 p.m., Hosford Road, Chardon. Caller reports her neighbor is shooting at ducks in his pond. He has stopped shooting at this time. Deputy advised. Caller now states they may have been geese. Neighbor advised shots came from somewhere else and he was not shooting.
TRAFFIC STOP
May 22
4:01 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Citations issued for speed, fictitious plates and possession of marijuana. Vehicle towed due to no proof of ownership.
