The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 4-10, 2021.
ANIMAL BITE
June 6
12:08 p.m., Woodin Road Chardon. FedEx driver bit in the stomach by a dog. Dog is back inside. Report taken.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
June 6
1:22 a.m., Robinson Road, Chardon. Couple has a single bat flying around the home. Deputies located bat in an upstairs bathroom and opened a window and removed the screen. Deputies closed the bedroom door thinking the bat would fly out sometime during the night.
June 7
11:11 a.m., Driftwood Avenue, Newbury. Large 3-foot snake in one of caller’s bedrooms. 87-year-old female caller and 60-year-old daughter were trying to get it but couldn’t. Deputies arrived. Snake evicted without incident and released into the woods.
5:29 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Turtle trying to cross the road. Turtle fled the scene prior to deputy’s arrival.

2:13 p.m., Rapids Road, Burton. Out with a turtle. Removed turtle from roadway.
2:21 p.m., Holden Ridge Road, Munson. 4-foot rat snake in garage. Snake relocated to park.
CITIZEN ASSIST
June 10
12:11 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Caller would like a deputy to stand by at 2:30 p.m. while a former doctor/employee get his things. The FBI was there the other day and caller is not comfortable being there by himself. Deputy advised. Doctor removed all the property of his that he wanted at the business. Owner will dispose of the rest. Key was turned over to owner, who will change the locks.
HARASSMENT
June 8
8:08 p.m., Joann Drive, Montville. Caller reports his neighbor is dating his ex-wife. Two Sundays ago neighbor came to caller’s home. Today caller was involved in an argument at a baseball game. Caller told neighbor to stay off his property. Neighbor told not to return to caller’s home or he would be arrested for trespassing. Neighbor said he understood.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
June 8
8:24 a.m., Wintergreen Drive, Chardon. Someone threw a can of soup through caller’s window last night. Report taken.
ROAD RAGE
June 4
9:47 a.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller was having a discussion with CEI and holding up traffic. The other party started yelling and caller’s believes other party called him a Jew. Caller is at gas station. Deputy just pulled up. Parties gave conflicting stories about what transpired. Parties shook hands and went their separate ways.
SUSPICIOUS
June 4
2:40 a.m., View Drive, Newbury. “Crazy lady” from down the street was trying to break into caller’s car. No damage to car, but caller is concerned she might come back. She is still on the street screaming. Deputy located subject walking down View Drive. She said she believed she saw a car belonging to a party who she had a protection order against at caller’s address. Caller said he did not want to pursue charges, just wanted female advised to stay off his property. She said she understood.

8:25 a.m., Wayne Lane, Hambden. Caller states he thinks someone tried to poison his brother’s dog. Dog is OK. Report taken.
June 6
5:13 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller says there are 3-14 drones following him and peeping into his window. Caller initially thought they were from the sheriff’s office. Drones followed caller down several roads and to the sheriff’s office. He says it’s been going on for several weeks and they may be military.
June 8
5:13 p.m., Howard Drive, Chardon. Silver SUV parked on the road for an hour. Vehicle returned to a male subject who said he was a private investigator and would be on his way soon.
9:36 p.m., Grove Road, Troy. Male, 200 pounds, partly bald, going door-to-door in his car. Caller has a no trespass order over civil issue. Male has threatened caller in the past. She thinks he has guns. This is Cleveland Skydiving Center. Deputy met with caller. Ongoing civil issue where male subject is attempting to get skydiving center investigated or fined by the FAA, fire marshal and Troy Township zoning. Caller requests extra patrol on property for next few weeks due to the airplane that sits at property.
June 10
8:47 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Someone came to caller’s house claiming to be from ADT Security, driving an older grey F150 with a variety of hunting stickers in back window. Arrived at home and walked toward garage area. Man said he was with ADT and began speaking to caller about buying a security system. Man had knowledge of the home being purchased recently. Man handed caller a paper that had multiple ADT logos on it and appeared to be fake in nature. Printout was on computer paper with poor ink quality. Man left. Caller wants incident documented as she contacted ADT and man does not work for them. Extra patrol requested.
THREATENING
June 4
6:12 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Caller states someone is threatening to shoot her. A lot of screaming. Caller is near food concessions. Manager did not see a gun. Caller was very uncooperative and wanted to leave. She refused to provide a statement and did not want deputies to talk to the male. Unknown if male still on scene. Female left without incident.
TRAFFIC CRASH
June 10
6:21 a.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Buggy in ditch. Per deputy, no injuries. Fire, rescue and OSHP canceled. Amish horse got spooked and pulled buggy into ditch. Other Amish assisted in getting buggy and horse back in service.
TRAFFIC OFFENSE
June 5
9:06 p.m., Newcomb Road, Parkman. Two buggies with loud music and people riding on top of the buggy. Deputy advised. Area toured and no buggies observed.
TRESPASSING
June 7
3:35 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Male was brought in by squad and he is homeless. He seems to be stalking doctor. He said he was going to camp there at the hospital. Doctor is afraid to leave the building. Deputy transported male to CVS per his request so he could obtain his prescriptions.
WEAPON OFFENSE
June 5
8:44 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Caller is advising neighbor is shooting his gun and the bullets are going over caller’s house. Dispatch advised subject to put down the weapon and step outside. Subject was arrested for weapons while intoxicated.
