The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 28-June 3, 2021.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

May 29

3:55 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller is very concerned about a very large animal outside her tent at Punderson State Park. Caller said she heard animals attacking each other outside tent. UTL/GOA.

May 31

6:33 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Three horses walking down Madison Road. Horses got corralled but caller unsure where they belong. Horses are now back where they belong.

June 1

6:53 a.m., Dewey Road, Thompson. Loose cows in the road. No cows in road as deputy arrived. Contact with owner unsuccessful. Thompson PD will attempt to contact.

9:46 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Donkey running in road toward Chardon. Two kids are trying to help get it out of the road. Donkey is still northbound on Auburn. Deputy checked area. UTL/GOA.

10:25 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. 6-7 horses northbound on Clay.

CITIZEN ASSIST

May 29

5:34 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Clerk was not around so caller got beer and waited for him at the checkout. He was glaring at me and got confrontational. Caller wants to speak to a deputy. Have him stop at caller’s home. Deputy advised.

May 31

5:41 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller would a phone call. She believes someone put a tracking device on her car while parked at a home on Stone Road in Newbury. Advice provided to park car in a garage or close to a building so no one could access the gas tank. Also advised to take her car to a mechanic to check gas tank for a tracker.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

May 30

9:17 a.m., Timber Lane, Auburn. Son has taken credit card and will not give it back. He is spending money and caller does not know how much. Son also chokes him. Dispute between

FRAUD

May 28

12:49 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Male subject was let go from roofing company in August 2020 and has started his own business and is using former employer’s paperwork and stealing clients. Deputy advised. Statements taken for possible fraud and phone harassment.

May 30

4:43 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller is being blackmailed for $300 by an unknown person online. Caller involved in brief online relationship with a female, from an unknown location and an unknown name. Female requested $300 to prevent damaging material from going public. Caller advised not to send money, cease all communication with the other party and block the female from his social media account.

May 31

2:44 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Caller bought a puppy out of Virginia and has not received it and they keep asking for more money. Caller wanted to report she sent money to a fake puppy site (Dazzling Labradors). Caller said all communications were over gmail/yahoo email accounts and one time spoke to a person with a broken English accent. Caller wants incident documented and will file with Ohio Attorney General’s office.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

May 31

1 a.m., Sawmill Drive, Hambden. Caller refused to give his address, but said there is a house under construction and there are approximately eight juveniles there “raising hell,” screaming, and possibly knocked over the porta-potty. Deputy responded. Porta-potty was knocked over. Area checked and no juveniles located. Rest of property checked OK.

12:11 p.m., Quail Woods Drive, Chardon. Caller is a teacher at Chardon High School and some kids keep toilet papering, egging and putting forks all over his yard. Caller suspects juveniles in the area, but has no evidence. Caller requested advice and incidents documented at this time. Caller will put up cameras around his home. Cleared.

LITTERING

June 1

7:02 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Crib mattress dumped at park. Township has the incident on video and that male has 24 hours to remove the item or be charged. Township notified male returned and picked up the mattress. Issue resolved.

ROAD RAGE

May 31

2:58 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Black pickup truck, road rage incident. Caller is in black Ford Escape. Driver of pickup involved made contact with deputy prior to caller calling in. She said driver of other car was brake checking her and flipping her off, so she flipped them off back. Female said she would control her emotions while driving from now on.

SUSPICIOUS

May 30

6:59 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Middlefield. Out with a suspicious male at Middlefield Pallet. Spoke with male who was loading pallets that weren’t free, he put the pallets back due to the “For Sale” sign laying on the ground. He was advised not to return.

THREATENING

May 29

6:47 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Deputy was flagged down by male who reported he got a threatening phone call from male subject who said to stay away from his sister. Deputy contacted male subject who said he believes complainant scammed his disabled sister out of $2,000. Male subject believes the money was given willingly, but complainant is using his sister’s disability as a way to manipulate her. Advice given to complainant to contact Chardon PD if he wishes to file a report about the money. Both parties wanted the phone exchange documented.

TRESPASSING

June 1

5:55 p.m., Munnberry Oval, Newbury. Construction worker defecated in the caller’s woods. She would like him to clean it up. Husband went over and spoke with the crew and the male cleaned up after himself. They do not need a deputy to respond.

VANDALISM

May 30

10:55 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Caller has found empty beer cans in front yard on more than one occasion and then eggs in mailbox. Photographs and written statement collected. Home needs extra patrol.
