The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 5-11, 2021.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Nov. 6
6:19 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Text for a welfare check on boyfriend, claiming he cut himself and was dead. Dispatch could not locate the number. Online it is coming back to a female in Kentucky. Dispatch attempted to call number and no one answered. Texter claims to have photos sent from him as well. Female defrauded of $1,400 from a male she met online. Male requested more money and sent a photo of a small cut to his hand when she did not send it. Fraud investigation already started with financial institution. Advised she was being scammed and to stop sending money.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Nov. 8
11:25 p.m., Georgia Road, Middlefield. People are there drinking and are on probation. They have TPIO against each other. Male is uncooperative. Lots of yelling and swearing in the background. Male not answering questions; keeps yelling at female. Female told male, “I’m gonna put you in a ditch.” There are five people in apartment; all five live there. Male would not stay on line. Arrested for assault. Report to follow.
Nov. 10
2:59 p.m., Tracy Lane, Troy. Caller says his neighbor was verbally assaulting him. Neighbor said he would hurt caller. Caller would like to make a police report. Caller believes his neighbor is possessed and gave him the “Hex” sign while he was driving by. Caller got out of car and told neighbor to knock it off. No threats or injuries. Parties are separated and live several houses apart.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Nov. 5
11:47 p.m., Nelson Road, Parkman. Male wants wife removed from home. They are arguing. Intoxicated, nothing physical. Deputy advised. Gun in home, but it is locked up. Wife has left the house. They were arguing over a hamburger. No threats made and no signs of violence.
FRAUD
Nov. 7
10:47 a.m., Crackel Road, Auburn. Male is in Texas and has been there for three weeks and will not return for another two weeks. His bank account was wiped out by a PayPal order that was mailed to Redding, Pa. He has taken care of bank info and PayPal; he wants to prosecute but needs a report. PayPal scam.
ODOR INVESTIGATION
Nov. 5
3:47 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Caller reports her children left the gas on today from the stove. Gas has been on since 8:30 a.m. Caller opened the windows and is not out of the house. Cancel page.
PURSUIT
Nov. 8
9:07 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Attempting to stop motorcycle. Eastbound on Farmington. 76 mph in a 45 mph zone. Now traveling 100+ mph. Terminated at Hobart.
SUSPICIOUS
Nov. 5
7:54 a.m., Hosmer Road, Parkman. White two-door vehicle driven by white heavy set male keeps driving past the kids while walking to school and he scares the children. Goes past them and then turns around and goes past them again. Caller wants to advise and they will have an adult walk with them and actually get a plate. Deputy checked area. UTL/GOA.
11:23 a.m., Nash Road, Parkman. Caller states the house was broken into and ransacked. No signs of forced entry, vandalism or theft. House has been vacant since 2016. Item reported stolen, a tractor battery, was found in the garage.
6:10 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Someone going through dumpster at sheriff’s office. Call canceled prior to deputy arrival.
Nov. 8
11:28 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Was video-chatting with someone from another country. They took inappropriate photos of him and now are trying to blackmail him. Caller given advice after he was video-chatting with someone who allegedly lives in Africa. He deleted his Instagram account.
Nov. 10
7:51 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Youngstown air traffic control asking an officer to check area of Geauga airport as they had someone flashing a green laser at an aircraft flying over area. Deputy advised. Sergeant parked at airport for 30 minutes. One place flew over and no laser lights were observed. Runway lights show down and cleared the call.
THEFT
Nov. 6
1:29 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller believes diesel exhaust system was stolen from his Ford F350. Footage shows two males, on foot, coming onto and leaving Troy Storage from Claridon Troy Road. Evidence was collected from scene and photographs were taken. Report to follow.
Nov. 7
2:12 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. $70,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from her home. Report taken.
WEAPONS OFFENSE
Nov. 6
2:31 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Caller is trying to hunt and neighbor is mad about it and keeps firing rounds into the air. Caller would like to speak to a deputy. Made contact with caller and advised him to make contact with ODNR.
Nov. 9
12:50 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. Customer pulled a gun on another customer last night at Hambden Country Inn around 10-10:30 p.m. Owner was unaware until today; she would like to talk to a deputy. Customer has a no trespass and is no longer allowed on premise.
