The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 24-30, 2021.

DRUGS

Dec. 28

4:22 p.m., Fowlers Mills Road, Munson. In the lobby to report she found drug paraphernalia. Deputy advised of pending call. Complainant located a backpack in her mom’s closet that contained marijuana and paraphernalia. She is concerned for mother’s welfare and asked for assistance with disposal of drugs and paraphernalia. Complainant said her mom took the backpack from the house today. However, she anticipates it will come back later this evening or tomorrow. Complainant will contact GCSO once it is located.

FRAUD          

Dec. 27

2:11 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Caller needs a report for two subjects sending him text message demanding money or they will distribute photos. Scam attempt. No money transferred. Phone number checked online and other similar scams reported to consumer sites. Caller advised to block number.

3:57 p.m., Colchester Drive, Auburn. Lost $500 already. She has credit freeze now. They are threatening to take out a loan in her name if she does not send more money. $300 was requested and sent by victim to open a “special account.” Money sent through a cash app. Victim advised not to send any more funds through unconventional sources.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 24

6:56 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Gave a woman he met on a dating site his email and now he things she is fake and not sure what she is going to do with his email. Would like to speak to a deputy. Caller went to the dating app Zulik, where his email was given to the person. The person claiming to be a female asked questions which would have to do with password questions. Caller advised to check his bank to make sure his accounts are secure.

4:57 p.m., Blue Heron Trail, Munson. Five Amazon boxes dumped into the wooded area in front of caller’s house. Two were opened, others sealed. Caller moved them into garage for deputy to view. Caller’s family quarantining due to COVID. Unopened packages were delivered to the address listed. Opened, empty boxes were destroyed. One man from an address that one of the packages was addressed advised he had a camera he was going to look at and would call deputy if he located anything.

10:59 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Observed an occupied vehicle in the parking lot of Brown Barn. Driver said he was homeless and sleeps in his friend’s driveway. His friend is having a Christmas party so he couldn’t park in the driveway. He made a few calls and got a ride home.

Dec. 25

1:12 p.m., Newcomb Road, Parkman. Male keeps driving up and down Newcomb Road. Older white van with no windows. Driven by a man in his late 20s, wearing a hoodie. Was following caller’s daughter. Caller stopped driver to confront him about his suspicious behavior and he took off. Deputy advised. Family reported this male earlier this year. UTL/GOA. Extra patrol requested.

Dec. 26

9:23 a.m., GAR Highway, Montville. Wants to speak to a deputy regarding people who are “creeping” around his house at night. He does not know them. Caller said the past week three males dressed in camo have been coming to his bedroom window and talking. Males came yesterday at 3 a.m. and were whispering outside the windows. Homeowner shined a flashlight outside the window and the males ran. Caller believes the males are casing his house or trying to look through the windows at his wife. Caller wants to put bear traps by his windows to catch the males. Deputy suggested putting a camera and calling GCSO when males are there. Deputy could not advise caller to put bear traps on property for protection. Extra patrol in early morning hours.

Dec. 27

9:37 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Male on motorcycle broke down Friday night and asked caller if he could park it in his drive. PA plates. He has not come back. Now caller is worried it might be stolen or something suspicious. Deputy responded to location. Motorcycle checked OK. Unable to locate owner. Caller will wait a few more days for motorcycle owner to contact. Advice given.

THEFT

Dec. 27

5:31 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Hay wagon stolen from caller’s property. Noticed it missing yesterday.

Dec. 30

2:01 p.m., Oak Drive, Newbury. Caller has a DeWalt Sawzall stolen from his driveway last night. A couple of neighbors said there was a guy riding around on a four-wheeler last night and he is known to steal things. He said he saw the Sawzall on the trunk of his car when he went down the street to work on a friend’s house at 2:30 a.m. and when he returned home at 5 a.m. it was gone. He stated it was just purchased for $248. Did not have serial number and said there are no discernible marking because it was new.

2:19 p.m., Cross Creek Parkway, Newbury. Caller reporting he had two saws stolen from his shop. They were stored in an unlocated enclosed trailer. Two Stihl concrete saws taken sometime between Dec. 5 and today. Report taken.
