The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 25 through March 3, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Feb. 26
3:03 p.m., Hart Road, Montville. Loose dogs keep coming onto caller’s property. One of the dogs stole his shoe off the porch and he never recovered the shoe. They also are aggressive toward caller’s wife. Dogs belong to neighbors. Caller wants GCSO to warn neighbors about dogs. Deputy advised dog owner. The missing shoe was taken months ago and could not be found.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Feb. 28
4:41 a.m., Lake View Drive, Newbury. Caller states people are harassing him. He thinks his neighbor hired them to harass him. He says there are about five people on his roof and under his house. He is a combat vet and has a gun. He states he will be outside to meet deputy and was advised to leave his weapon in the house. Complainant told deputy he captured two images on his thermal camera that he believed to be people. The images were not discernible. Deputies checked area and told complainant everything appeared normal.
DISORDERLY
Feb. 25
2:09 p.m., Hart Road, Montville. Chardon Post Office had a carrier deliver mail to resident at Hart Road address and he became very angry and was throwing mail at her. She left the area. He was trying to tell carrier it was junk mail that he didn’t want and was coming at her and throwing it at her.
FRAUD
Feb. 26
8:52 p.m., Moseley Road, Thompson. Caller fell for a phone scam and lost $3,500.
OVERDOSE
Feb. 28
1:09 a.m., Crampton Drive, Newbury. 21-year-old male, possible OD. Narcan administered by father. Possibly having a convulsion. Son’s drug of choice is “sentinol” (possibly Fentanyl). He just got out of rehab. Son admitted to snorting a powder he traded for a pair of shoes. Got the power from a person who lives in Twinsburg. Father threw rest of power in toilet. Son transported to hospital.
SUSPICIOUS
Feb. 26
5:05 p.m., Thwing Road, Munson. House across the street has all these windows open. Caller is concerned they are “cooking crack.” Upon arrival there were no windows open at described residence. Described situation was not accurate and did not warrant entry onto property.
Feb. 27
2:48 p.m., Shaw Road, Auburn. White van stopped him while he was walking with his daughter and asked him weird questions. Male is stopped at intersection and is out of the van. Unknown what he is doing. Caller called back. Van is at Shaw and Fox with the door open. Male is walking around. One male arrested for OVI. Vehicle towed.
THREATENING
Feb. 26
12:35 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Female is getting threats from a previously hired contractor and wants to speak with a deputy regarding situation. Civil issue between architect and client. Deputy left message for architect to contact him regarding harassing calls and drive-by the client’s house.
TRAFFIC CRASH
Feb. 26
1:24 a.m., Aquilla Road, Aquilla Village. Vehicle down in the ditch. Looks like it may have hit a pole. Male involved in single vehicle crash. Admitted to consuming alcohol and was arrested for OVI. Male issued a citation for OVI and reasonable control. He was released to a friend.
TRAFFIC OFFENSE
Feb. 25
9:43 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Red vehicle northbound on 44 threatened the caller. Red car was tailgating caller and caller pulled over. Both parties rolled down their windows and the male in the red car yelled, “I’ll kick your fat ass if you have a problem.” Red car pulled into BP at 44/87. Male arrested for OVI alcohol and drugs.
