The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 1-7, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
July 4
7:05 p.m., Wye Road, Munson. Raccoon with a trap stuck on its leg. Caller advised animal is suffering. People are stopped, trying to help it. Caller advised they were able to get the animal free from trap.
BURGLARY
July 3
6:29 a.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Someone broke window and office door. Broke into her office, stole the safe and possibly other things. She did not enter the office. Great Lakes Growers. Report taken.
CITIZEN ASSIST
July 4
1:25 p.m., Aspen Hills Lane, Burton. Husband is in jail. Caller has found all his guns and needs them picked up for courts. Removed three gun cases from property. They will be entered into evidence for safe keeping.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
July 2
1:20 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Verbal with a mail customer. Caller is the mail carrier. Verbal between carrier and customer about dimensions of mailbox. Advice given.
July 7
12:27 a.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Neighbor is irate because caller’s 14-year-old sister accidentally set off the car alarm. Neighbor continues to shine lights in caller’s window and is screaming profanities at little sister. Contact made with neighbor who was advised he is not allowed to scream profanities. Neighbor advised he is calling the mayor in the morning.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
July 1
5:07 p.m., Williams Road, Hambden. Caller’s fiancé flicked a lit cigarette at caller and it hit her in the face. Male is intoxicated, no drugs, just alcohol. No weapons. Parties are separated at the time. Male in garage. Male was involved in a domestic disturbance with his live-in girlfriend. During the dispute, he flicked a lit cigarette at caller, hitting her less than an inch away from her eye. Male was arrested for DV and transported to GCSO jail without incident.
July 4
4:11 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. Caller states her husband just choked her and punched her in the ribs. Rescue denied. Male has locked himself in the bathroom. No weapons. Caller states she and her husband have been separated and are now at his parents’ house. One male arrested for DV.
FRAUD
July 1
7:31 p.m., Old State Road, Hambden. While attempting a warrant, female requested a report for a fraud. She provided $150 in pre-paid money cards to the suspect who told her she would receive $50,000 of his lottery winnings.
HARASSMENT
July 1
6:04 p.m., Taylor May Road, Auburn. Caller states husband, who she has a protective order against, is posting on social media about caller and stating things that are not true. Caller would like to make a report regarding harassment. Sites include Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Videos are in Russian. In the videos, complainant says her ex-husband does not name her directly. Complainant advises her business is advertised on social media and this is affecting her business. Complainant wanted this documented.
July 3
6:15 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Caller is getting harassing texts from an ex-boyfriend she hasn’t seen in over three years. Caller stated she has asked him to stop multiple times but he continues to text her. Advice given about blocking number, certified mail for future criminal charges of telecommunication harassment and obtaining a TPO.
INJURED PERSON
July 3
11:26 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Skateboarder hit by a car. Broken leg, conscious, breathing and talking OK. Driver still on scene.
ROBBERY
July 6
7:42 p.m., Hayes Road, Huntsburg. Male was walking down the road when he was robbed by someone in a vehicle. Black Dodge, unknown type, northbound on Hayes. Male was knocked down to the ground by a male that stole his wallet. Male jumped back into his car and left. Caller tried to grab his wallet back from the male when he was dragged down the road, causing a laceration to his head, hand and back. Sporty looking black Dodge car. Caller is 15 years old. Just cash, approximately $80, was in his wallet. Caller has never seen car before. White male driver, long ragged hair. Female passenger. Caller went to Laurelwood with her. She lives in Mentor. Caller was going to buy a vape from the female. Caller is now stating the male did not get of the vehicle, rather the exchange happened at the window. Caller is being unruly and is in the parking lot being violent with the mom and grandmother.
SUSPICIOUS
July 4
7:42 a.m., Newcomb Road, Parkman. Male subject came into Sunshine Training Center on Madison Road and stayed for a few hours, interacted with the clients, some being children. Caller found out this morning he is a registered offender. Incident will be forwarded to SORN deputy.
9:31 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. 17-year-old brother, someone took a photo of his face and photoshopped it on a nude body. The person who made the photo texted it to caller’s brother but did not post it anywhere. Deputy spoke the complainant who advised no photos were sent or received. Complainant told it was a scam via Facebook that wanted money. No images of underage children were taken or sent.
THEFT
July 3
4:31 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. Someone stole cones that caller had to block off his drive. Amish kids. Headed south in a one-horse wagon. Five orange and one purple cone. Deputy responded. UTL/GOA. Spoke to complainant who advised he did not want a report and “just wanted it on file.” Complainant further stated he did not care about a few cones, just didn’t want anyone on his driveway.
July 6
2:30 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male in lobby to report theft that happened at Chagrin Valley Mini Storage. Deputy advised. Catalytic converter theft.
July 7
3:20 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Someone stole the catalytic converter from caller’s camper at Chagrin Valley Mini Storage.
VANDALISM
July 4
10:39 a.m., Woodiebrook Road, Munson. House was egged in the night. IR only at this time.
