The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 8-14, 2022.

CITIZEN ASSIST

July 8

4:03 p.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Caller requesting a deputy to respond to her home, regarding  her neighbor on the sex offender registry. Caller has some questions. Assistance provided.

July 11

8:46 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Caller hired a contractor for a HVAC and paid $4,200 up front. Items gathered and brought to home but in past three weeks workers have not shown and no other work has been done.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

July 8

5:13 p.m., Overlook Brook Drive, Auburn. Caller states his neighbor was on the property behind his house and saw his wife through the window naked. Caller states neighbor claims he has permission to dump his garden waste in the woods behind caller’s property and caller is upset because neighbor saw his wife naked. Complainant did not want any action taken. Advice given. Attempts made to speak with neighbor; he did not answer door.

July 11

9:45 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Male party on line advising he bought a vehicle from someone this week and now he has issues with vehicle and wants some money back. Advised civil matter and to contact courts. Warned regarding contacting or coming to property.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

July 10

8:18 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Caller said she witnessed her mother and ex-boyfriend having sex then arguing. Caller’s mother is aware she called 911. Mother is asking to see caller’s phone. Caller is refusing. Caller is telling her mother to leave her alone and is crying. Deputies arrived on scene and met with mother who advised no violence or threats of violence. Explained they started arguing, then had sexual intercourse, then argued again and male left. He was not on scene when deputies arrived. Deputies met with caller who confirmed nothing physical occurred.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

July 13

11:32 p.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. 24-year-old male is being violent toward his father. Caller states he will need multiple deputies to respond. No weapons accessible to 24-year-old male. Unknown drugs or alcohol. Male can be heard arguing with his father now and he is physically putting his hands on him. Father can be heard telling male not to touch him or his sister. Male can be heard telling his father to “fight me like a man.” Father trying to get away. Father saying he needs help quickly. Father told male the police are coming and male said he doesn’t care, “What are they gonna do?” Father can be heard telling male to “let go.” Caller has a bat to defend himself. Taser deployed. Geauga ER advised. Male arrested and transported to ER, then jail.

FRAUD

July 10

3:11 p.m., Covington Lane, Auburn. Caller was called from Amazon and told there was a charge on the account for $1,400 for a phone she did not order. Male claimed he was from Amazon Security and claimed there were other hackers on the account. The fraudulent security said Target cards could be used to delete the hackers. Caller gave the numbers to Target gift cards in the amount of $5,000.

July 13

10:25 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller explained he was scammed out of $4,500. Report to follow.

MEDICAL

July 8

4:47 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. 41-year-old female withdrawal from meth. Female feels like she’s overdosing. She smoked meth to ease the withdrawal. She now feels like she’s having a heart attack. Caller last used meth on Wednesday. She’s trying to quit.

MISSING PERSON

July 12

8:20 a.m., Claridon Park Drive, Claridon. 15-year-old female is missing. She left at 2 a.m. this morning. The 360 tracking on her phone was turned off at 2 a.m. Last time she left she was found in Painesville. She doesn’t drive. She is bi-racial, 5 feet tall, 115 pounds, brown hair. Report taken.

SUSPICIOUS

July 12

9:17 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Huntsburg. Caller was speaking with a male subject and he said don’t shoot, then a possible shot was heard. Later male said he was OK but a second possible shot rang out and the line went dead. Resident checked OK and stated he and a friend were playing a prank on a telemarketer. Resident was advised and cautioned not to take the same action again.

THEFT

July 9

8:16 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Group ordered $700 worth of food from Iron Horse Saloon and left without paying tab. Seven vehicles involved in party. All have kayaks in the back. Photos of vehicles taken. Vehicles left westbound on 422. Bainbridge PD notified.

THREATENING

July 11

6:05 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Female reports male is sending her texts saying if she doesn’t respond/answer phone “she will regret it and shit will get ugly in the next couple of days.” Caller currently is at her father’s house. Male is served at house in Thompson. Female caller received six phone calls, six text messages and one voicemail from male. She was notified protection order would be served soon.

July 13

11:01 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Intoxicated male sleeps in his van on the property just pulled a gun on caller. Caller and his partner are waiting at the road; older male is back in their vehicle. Caller rents the property and doing some work, the drunk male was upset he was disturbing him and pulled a gun on the victim, who heard him cock the gun and say he was going to shoot him in the heat, “put a round through your head.” Business is called Connected Auto Sales.

6:21 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield.

VEHICLE FIRE

July 11

8:08 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Hay in bed of truck on fire. Hay removed and fire put out.

WELFARE CHECK

July 11

8:49 p.m., Waterfowl Lane, Munson. Female was just released from UH Geauga and is walking on 44. Caller stated she’d rather die than call her husband. Caller states she was involved in a verbal dispute with her husband before being admitted. Caller states her husband is a corrections officer and an inmate messaged her Facebook and he was upset over it.
