The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 5-11, 2022.
CHILD ABUSE
Aug. 8
6:34 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Father is involved with court for a DV case involving mother. There also is proof of him physically abusing minor son. He also violated the no-contact order to perform the abuse. JFS would like a call before the deputy responds to clarify case details. Active case. See report.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Aug. 6
10:15 p.m., Stafford Road, Auburn. Possible scam phone call from Youngstown PD. Caller was talking to someone on dating app and they are now sending caller nude photos and she is being threatened with criminal complaint because the photos are of an underage. Caller has not given any information.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Aug. 5
12:58 a.m., Chillicothe Road, Russell. Male took a bunch of pills. He took them because they were arguing. Male has been drinking. Male has now gone outside and said he’s running away. He recently has been in trouble for B&E. Male claiming he threw the pills down the drain, possibly Oxy, but she does not see them. Male ran out the back door. He “looks like Jesus.” Drone team has arrived and is setting up. Arial drone is positioned right above the area. Additional tracking K-9s are en route. Male contacted complainant, sounded groggy and out of it, hung up. Spoke to mother who spoke to complaint who said male has consumed 20 Oxycodone. Mom is going to respond to area in an attempt to assist with locating male and getting him treatment.
FRAUD
Aug. 5
2:12 p.m., Blue Spruce Trail, Auburn. In lobby to report fraud. Zelle scam, bank is handling. IR provided.
Aug. 10
3:21 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Caller reports $2,768.01 was stolen. Someone wrote out a check. Deputy advised. Report taken.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Aug. 6
8:39 a.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Caller would like to speak with deputy about ongoing juvenile problem. Requesting extra patrol between hours of 1-3 a.m. due to ongoing issue with juveniles pounding on the house and running away. Two male juveniles captured on video last night around 1:30 a.m. Video not clear enough to identify them. Caller advised a deputy can park in her driveway over the weekends as she will not be home.
LITTERING
Aug. 5
12:45 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Large load of non-recyclable material dumped at the recycle. Spoke with registered owner of vehicle in question who stated they were not aware it was a recycling-only dumpster and it would be removed.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 5
5:42 p.m., Stillwell Road, Huntsburg. Blue Dodge SUV male driver pulled into driveway and reached toward his crotch like he had a gun. Male exited the vehicle and rang the doorbell, then left when caller did not answer. Caller did not see a weapon. Was ringing the doorbell for five minutes. Another home on Stillwell Ring camera just went off. They had a four-wheeler stolen Tuesday. Oldest son will be waiting in driveway. Deputies arrived on scene and met with complainant who explained he heard the doorbell ring and looked outside and observed a blue Dodge Dakota and a bald male with a goatee. Male had a gun in his waistband.
Aug. 9
3:35 p.m., Deer Drive, Chardon. Items are being taken from the house. Plants, check and a money card. Approximately $1,250 worth of stuff. They believe it is the neighbor. Deputy advised. Report taken. No evidence of a theft.
9:56 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Caller advising someone is following her son home from church. Someone is sending him messages and stating they want to see more photos of him. The male is calling her son’s phone; he dies not know who he is. Deputy advised. Caller said her son made it home safely and they were able to block the male on Facebook and Messenger. They no longer need a deputy to respond.
Aug. 10
2:57 a.m., Bell Street, Newbury. Caller has received numerous suspicious, harassing messages on her phone from an unknown person. They are not threatening in nature. Caller received provocative photos and text messages from an unknown number. Reverse look-up of phone number returns to a Texas landline. No threats made. Caller advised to block number and not respond.
THEFT
Aug. 6
2:11 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Complainant reported sometime overnight someone cut and stole a section of solar LED lights from his trees in the front yard. No known suspects at this time. Extra patrol requested over the weekend.
THREATENING
Aug. 10
11:31 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Threatened by a customer. Heavy-set male with goatee that has 4-5 rubber bands hanging from the goatee. Male is not allowed in the store for about two weeks; he threatened employee to “beat his ass watch him bleed out and die.” Male came in tonight and said he was going to be waiting in the parking lot at 5 a.m. for same employee he threatened two weeks ago. Caller states she was going to talk to manager who knows who the male is.
