The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 28-Nov. 3, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Nov. 1
7:55 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Female at Observatory Park surrounded by coyotes. Female at entrance. Female saw some eyes, but hears them. Caller is with her dogs. Female being assisted by male who showed up to park. Deputy checked area for coyote but was unable to locate it. Deputy cleared without incident.
Nov. 2
11:50 a.m., White Road, Burton. Neighbor’s chickens keep coming on property and making a mess. Caller would like to speak to a deputy. Owner of chickens stated she will handle the issue.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Oct. 29
10:16 a.m., Claridon Troy, Troy. Male in lobby wanting to make a statement. Complainant advised he gave a ride to a female on Thursday night to Trumbull County. Unknown female and he believes he dropped her off at a meth house. Info only.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Oct. 28
12:19 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Caller needs to make a report against neighbor, theft of asphalt and criminal damaging, removed speed bumps. They have a shared driveway. Ongoing civil issue. Caller referred to his attorney and civil court for possible damages to shared driveway.
FRAUD
Oct. 28
3:33 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. Went to buy hay off of someone online, gave money and they didn’t deliver and keep asking for more personal information. Caller gave money for hay over Facebook and it was not delivered.
Oct. 28
10:01 p.m., Brookwood Drive, Newbury. Caller received a call and person was asking for caller’s SSN, insurance company, stating he hit this person’s car. Caller said he did not hit any car and did not give the person any information. Deputy advised caller it was a scam. Deputy attempted to call number back but the number was not in service.
Nov. 2
3:35 p.m., Country Oaks Trail, Munson. Male was sent a check to be deposited for a new job but was asked to send some of the money back by bitcoin. Report taken. Scam.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Nov. 1
9:42 a.m., Osmond Road, Claridon. 13-year-old daughter was supposed to be sleeping over her friend’s house last night. Her friend’s mom called this morning and said she wasn’t there. Caller has received word she is with her boyfriend. School advised she is not at school. Checked listed address and did not locate juvenile. Advice given to complainants. They are contacting PCSO to file runaway juvenile report. Officer advised they have the juvenile.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 28
11:39 a.m., Munson. Caller’s 15-year-old daughter met a 20-year-old female online and were having an online relationship. They were sending nude photos. Juvenile told the female to stop contacting her and then she is now receiving emails again and caller would like to make a report. Deputy advised. Report taken.
12 p.m., Willow Lane, Hambden. Caller advised a male came to her house claiming to be from Dominion with a hat and yellow vest, no vehicle. Caller does not have gas and he claimed he needed to check her gas line. Deputy advised. Checked area, UTL/GOA.
Nov. 3
4:37 p.m., Grove Road, Troy. People are at the cemetery that shouldn’t be there, possible drug dealers. White sports car. Deputies were out yesterday. Driver of car threatened to burn down caller’s sugarhouse. They are searching for a package.
THEFT
Oct. 29
8:08 p.m., South Springdale Avenue, Middlefield. Several people ran outside of Walmart Lawn and Garden carrying unbagged items. Four possible juveniles. Had three carts full of items. License plate obtained. Elyria Police contacted and will check the address.
Nov. 3
2:29 p.m., Owen Road, Parkman. Report to stolen coins and use of credit card.
TOBACCO PROBLEM
Oct. 31
2:10 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Start I.R. for tobacco problem. Citation issued at Berkshire High School for vape pen.
TRAFFIC STOP
Oct. 28
8:50 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Three-axle dump truck cited for 4,400 over on gross, warned for 7,900 over on tandem and warned for seatbelt.
1:25 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Driver cited for gross weight violation, 11,100 pounds, warned for tandem, 7,700 pounds.
2:38 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Four-axle log truck cited for gross weight violation, 22,100 pounds over, warned for tandem, 22,300, and three single axle violations.
