The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 2-8, 2022.
ANIMAL ABUSE
Dec. 2
3:39 p.m., Nash Road, Troy. Caller witnessed two young boys with puppies. One puppy ran into the road and the one boy picked it up and was punching it very hard in the face. Caller confronted the boy and he took off running. Boys were between 5-8 years old. Deputy responded. Unable to locate anyone in the area. No animals outside either.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Dec . 7
5:13 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller is requesting a phone call from a deputy about paying a female for a car and now she won’t give him the vehicle. Caller stated he has been paying $250 on a weekly/biweekly basis to a female for the past four years. He stated he has now paid off the amount of $8,000, which was agreed upon by both parties. She is now refusing to transfer possession of the car and states he still owes $5,000. Advice given to handle process through civil court system.
ESCAPE
Dec. 4
11:22 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Female who was brought in from jail yesterday fled UH Geauga sometime today. Security is checking cameras to get more information. Report taken to Mentor PD and Painesville PD and they are being sent to check addresses. Female located by Mentor PD.
FRAUD
Dec. 6
11:08 a.m., Regent Park Drive, Munson. Caller mailed a check that was duplicated and made out to a different person in a different amount. Under investigation.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Dec. 2
4:37 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Issue with a 12-year-old seventh-grader on the bus putting his hands on caller’s 11-year-old child. Ongoing issue. Caller filed a complaint with the school and nothing has been done. Caller would like to speak with a deputy. Incident under investigation.
MEDICAL
Dec. 8
1:41 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. 28-year-old male inmate needs transport to hospital. He swallowed a toothbrush. Squad is transporting him downtown to UH for surgery.
SUSPICIOUS
Dec. 7
2:44 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Received a call from a man in Akron saying he has caller’s 15-year-old daughter and needs $40 to transport her back home. Caller sent to person $40 through cash app. Caller contacted Lake County Probation Department, which has custody of her daughter. Daughter is still locked up and did not run away. Caller unable to reach the male after he accepted the $40 payment. Caller wanted incident documented. Advice given and caller will contact Lake County JFS.
Dec. 8
4:13 p.m., Durkee Road, Burton. Caller needs to make a report for suspicious objects and a note left in his mailbox. He found several rocks and a note in his mailbox signed, “I am a killer.” Extra patrol requested.
TOBACCO PROBLEM
Dec. 5
9:21 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Start I.R. for tobacco problem at Berkshire Schools campus. Citation issued.
THEFT
Dec. 2
7:15 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller’s sister lives at assisted living facility. He was there visiting when someone took items from his car. His wallet and $1,500 in cash. Caller believes it was a male who lives in facility and was in the parking lot when caller walked in. Incident under investigation.
Dec. 3
10:42 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. SCAG Liberty Z52 KAW mower and trailer stolen from the business. Report taken. Extra patrol requested.
Dec. 5
3:29 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Caller states his son has taken a collection of gold and silver coins. Caller thinks he took the coins to Geauga Coin. Caller would like a call. Report taken.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Dec. 7
10:45 a.m., Crackel Road, Auburn. In the area. 9 cows in the roadway. Owner of cows getting the cows back to her property. Field summons issued to owner.
