The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 9-15, 2022.

AGENCY ASSIST

Dec. 15

6:46 p.m., Messenger Road, Auburn. White KIA. Euclid is in pursuit and they are requesting GCSO speak with owner to see who is driving it. Euclid also wants to make sure it isn’t stolen. Made contact with husband of vehicle owner who advised his wife contacted him to advise her vehicle was stolen. Cleveland PD was contacted and Euclid made aware.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Dec. 9

2:19 p.m., Broadwood Drive, Burton. Caller’s minor daughter is taking sweets from other family members in the house. She gets home from school at 3:05 p.m. and caller would like deputy to scare her. Caller advised deputy will not scare her daughter but will come over and advise mother on how she should handle the parenting task of her daughter.

Dec. 12

3:29 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Female reporting she is a nurse at UH and a co-worker stole her keys, broke into her home and placed cameras in her home. Reported he hacked her phone and plays music through her phone. Advised they investigated same. Call clear, follow up to be completed with UH.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Dec. 10

7:56 a.m., Punderson Road, Newbury. Caller found out this morning her sister has been recording her while she sleeps. Caller advised her sister gave herself a rug burn on her neck this morning so she could claim caller tried to choke her. No weapons in home. Things were physical about 20 minutes before call. Physical actions were just phones being tugged away from each other. Sister on line stating caller tried to murder her this morning. Conflicting stories that both parties changed multiple times. Report to be sent up for review.

FIREWORKS

Dec. 9

11:52 a.m., Woodlawn Drive, Newbury. Caller advising she called yesterday because a neighbor was setting off explosives and he is doing it again today. Caller advised it is scaring her and her dogs. Deputy responded to Oak Drive. Homeowner stated he was shooting bottle rockets to scare the birds and squirrels away from his yard. Caller advised neighbor was shooting fireworks four times today and early this morning disturbing neighbors. Homeowner admitted he shot a bottle rocket.     

FOUND PROPERTY

Dec. 10

5:22 p.m., Colchester Drive, Auburn. Postal carrier fund a gun in the mailbox and left it there. Postal inspector would like a call back. Upon arrival deputy located an airsoft pistol in the mailbox. Spoke with juvenile who advised they were playing and left the airsoft gun in mailbox. Deputy advised mother of situation. She said she would speak with her son. Deputy called postal inspector and advised them of findings.

FRAUD

Dec. 9

8:43 a.m., Nicki Lane, Newbury. Caller received a collection letter in the mail from the Ohio Attorney General that he owes money. Letter is made out to a company he does not own.

Dec. 12

11:41 a.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg. Someone went to the post office and changed mailing address for complainant. Assisted with additional resources.

LITTERING

Dec. 9

12:53 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Four men stopped at township park this morning and unloaded a full trailer of non-recyclable items. Caller has video footage. Deputy spoke with male who advised his brother had the trailer. Male called brother and others and they advised they would return in the next couple of hours to remove all the items they dumped.

REC STOLEN VEHICLE

Dec. 14

3:39 a.m., Hobart Road, Nelson Twp. 2022 Dodge Charger. Unknown color pinging in a field. Vehicle entered as stolen from Medina on Dec. 10 and was recovered by Cleveland PD and stolen again from Cleveland PD on Dec. 12. Owner is Medina Auto Mall. Vehicle update showing near address on Farmington Road as of 15 minutes ago. Multiple areas were checked and vehicle not located.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 12

12:21 p.m., Kirtland Road, Chardon. 2022 black Charger. Employee from Medina Auto Mall advised a stolen black Charger is possibly at the listed location. Vehicle was stolen from the dealer, recovered by Cleveland, stolen from the Cleveland lot and now pinging on Kirtland Road. UTL.

Dec. 14

10:50 a.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. Caller was placed in a group chat along with workers at Burton restaurant. Unknown number is in the chat and is making vulgar comments referencing caller’s 10-year-old daughter. All employees of restaurant are receiving the same message.

THEFT

Dec. 12

6:09 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Caller states he had a released inmate at his home and believes he stole from him. Caller said he has a .38 revolver missing and cash. Caller dropped inmate off at Circle K in Streetsboro and he was going to catch a bus in Akron to Mississippi. Greyhound Metro Police boarded all lines and was unable to locate male. Report to follow.
