Sept. 1-7, 2023

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 1-7, 2023.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Sept. 3

2:08 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Neighbors dog killed all of her chickens and rabbits. Caller had 22 hens, two roosters and three rabbits killed sometime during the night or early morning hours. Caller stated her neighbor’s dogs, two St. Bernards, came over and broke into the cages and killed the animals. The caller has video of the dogs in her yard. The dog owners and the owner of the chickens are going to work out the damage and replacement of the chickens and rabbits.

ASSAULT

Sept. 1

5:06 p.m., Burton Fairgrounds. Eleven year old female was on the hand glider rider and she was hit in the nose by the attendant. She would like to file charges. She has contacted her parents already.

Sept. 5

10:48 a.m., Fowlers Mill Golf Course, Munson. Female states someone threw something on the golf course like dynamite and she was hit by flying debris. Report taken.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Sept. 1

11:21 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Caller is upset because the neighbor is mowing onto his property and he does not want to be liable for the male being on his property. He has asked the neighbor to stop. Ongoing issue. Subject was advised.

Sept. 1

2:38 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. Caller advised that hes been in what he believes was a romantic relationship with a female and willingly paid over $20,000 over the last year for bills, rent, and many other things. Male was upset upon finding out female did not have romantic feelings for him. Advice given to file in small claims or consult an attorney.

Sept. 3

5:43 a.m., Downey Glen Trail, Auburn. Caller says he has called in the past about drones flying over his house. Caller says they have been peeping in his windows, everyone in the family has witness them. Complainant stated a drone came close to his residence again, but was unable to show any evidence at this time. Complainant will continue to follow up with the FAA.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Sept. 1

12:24 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Callers ex-husband is outside demanding the dryer and washer. He is outside with their 8-year-old daughter, caller is inside with the doors locked. Ex-husband wanted his mother’s old washer. Ex-wife wanted to keep it. No arguments, violence or threats. Advice given to both parties in regards to old property from past marriage.

Sept. 2

5:33 p.m., Auburn and Munn. Caller in the woods between Auburn and Munn. Male slammed caller’s head into steering wheel, chasing her through the woods with a knife. Caller could not provide location. Female not asnwering on multiple callbacks. Female back on the line. She had to call me to show her boyfriend it was the Sheriffs Office and not another man. The female and male both sounded intoxicated. See report for further.

Sept. 3

7:18 p.m., Beechwood Drive, Newbury. Caller walked down the road to call police. Female smashed the male’s gaming system onto the sidewalk. Caller stated he arrived home and advised his girlfriend of six years that he is getting some of his belongings and departing. While placing items in his vehicle, girlfriend locked him out of residence. Caller stated he knocked on door demanding his car keys. No physical harm or threats of harm. No signs of injury observed.

EXPLOSIVES

7:21 p.m., Chipmunk Lane and Georgia Road, Middlefield, Burton. Caller heard three large explosives coming from SW of the house. Second caller advising there were two loud explosions in the area. Deputy heard one gunshot in the area but no explosions.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 5

1:30 p.m., Downey Glen Trail, Auburn. Drones above house looking in window. Complainant said a fourth has appeared. Complainant has video of the drones flying. I asked to see the video he had and from what I saw you could not tell if it was a drone. Male called back to say that he can see someone with a flashlight walking through his woods. Deputy checked property. Nothing suspicious observed.

3:27 p.m., Downey Glen Trail, Auburn. Complainant in the lobby stating he’s being harassed by a drone. They are now flying it outside his daughter’s window.

Sept. 6

2:44 p.m., NDCL High School, Munson. Located three unknown pills. Three white pills were located on the gym floor. Complainant requested they be sent to lab for testing.

10:01 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Caller witnessed a male dragging a screaming child down the road. Caller’s husband confronted the male. The male let go of the child and stated everything is fine. The child is still screaming. Spoke with (suspect) who advised the screaming came from 12 year old autistic son who was having an outburst. I spoke with (suspect) about tools to help him calm down.

THREATENING

Sept. 1

6:59 a.m., Great Lakes Parkway, Duramax Marine, Troy. Terminated an employee who made threats to come and end (manager’s) life. Employee was terminated from the business after six months employment. Manager concerned that male will come back and start problems. Spoke with employee via telephone and he stated that he will not be back at the business or have anymore contact with his manager.
