The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 6 to 12, 2023.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Oct. 6
3:15 p.m. Sawmill Drive. Hambde. Caller advised that a neighbor across the way has fencing that is not in good shape. As a result their animals keep coming on his property. Caller just had to
chase a pig home and has dealt with horses in a few occasions. Caller is concerned for the animals safety as well and is afraid they are going to end up getting hit by a car.
BURGLARY
Oct. 6
11:49 a.m., Madison Road, Montville. Shop was broken into. Lock was broken. MRH Paving. Tools are missing. Possibly happened last night. Cameras but they were ripped off and are gone. Initial report taken. Under investigation.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Oct. 9
3:17 p.m., Cloverdale Drive. Middlefield. Callers tires was slashed last night. She does have cameras and is looking through it now.Complainant believes her tire was slashed some time during the night. Photos taken. Requested complainant to check security cameras for suspects.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 7
8:32 a.m., Forest Road. Claridon. X marked in dirt on window from someones finger and she states it wasn’t her children. Female is upset and daughter told her it could be something with sex trafficking. Unknown person(s) drew an X in the window dirt. Extra patrol will be provided.
Oct. 9
9:48 a.m., Clay Street. Montville. Caller would like a deputy to call him about a drone that was flying outside of his window overnight. Called both numbers on file for complainant and had no answer.
Oct. 9
3:51 p.m., Ravenna Road, WomenSafe Green House, Munson. WomenSafe received a one dollar bag of rice in the mail that someone paid eleven dollars to ship from PA. Name on package is not recognized and they are concerned it may be something weird. Package was confirmed to be rice. Nothing else in the package and it appeared to have been mailed direct from a retailer. Staff advised they would throw it away.
Oct. 10
4:47 p.m., Kinsman Road, Geauga County Democratic Party, Newbury. Male tried to run over the caller he tried to back into her. The male mooned the employees. Gray minivan. The male states he was going to burn them out. Caller also has a picture of the male. Jail advised.
Oct. 11
9:17 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller got home left around 9 a.m., came back around noon than left again and got home about 8:45 p.m., and someone used the bathroom and didn’t flush. Caller advised all the doors are locked, no forced entry. Contact was made. Advised he located large bowel movement in his toilet upon returning home. Was certain it was not his due to the amount. The home was checked and nothing suspicious was observed. Advice was given to change the locks in the home and install camera system.
THREATENING
Oct. 6
8:38 p.m. GAR Highway and Old State Road. Hambden. Amazon driver is being chased by a male with a gun. Caller is in a Dark Blue Nissan. Male is in a truck. She delivered a package; he came out with a gun and dog and jumped in his truck and started chasing her.
TRAFFIC OFFENSE
Oct. 6
12:24 p.m., Old State and Madison Roads. Middlefield. Caller would like to speak to a deputy in reference to a traffic offense that occurred yesterday. Red Chevy Blazer. Driver flipped the caller off
and threw chewed bubblegum at her. Also honked and was yelling and swearing at caller, tailgating her. Caller spoke with co-workers who have had similar incidents with this vehicle. Incident happened from the area of 608/Shedd down 608 into Trumbull County.
UNCONSCIOUSNESS
Oct. 12
6:17 p.m., Ravenna Road and Snow Road, Newbury. Male slumped over the wheel. Male is a known alcoholic. Gold van. Male lives on Snow Road, unknown name. He is pulled off to the side of the road. Caller advised she also seen the males car in the driveway with a lot of junk in the front of the house. Was located on Snow Road and advised he was medically OK. Pulled over to use the phone. Was not intoxicated.
