The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 2023.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Nov. 3
8:20 a.m., Hillside Drive, Newbury. Neighbors dogs keep going on to property. Caller states he shoots them with a BB gun. Six to seven dogs. Caller states: “He will kill them if they keep coming on property.”
Nov. 5
8:14 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. Caller in a truck stopped to stay by the deer. It is still alive in the ditch. Caller is not who struck the deer. Deputy spoke with caller. Noticed car parts in the roadway and located the injured deer. Put the deer down prior to deputy arrival as the deer was suffering. Used a pocket knife he had with him.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Nov. 5
12:33 a.m., W. High Street, Frost Bar, Middlefield. Nature change from Assault to Citizen Dispute. I observed two patrons outside who appeared agitated and were yelling at each other. Subjects were identified, stated they were best friends and were engaging in play fighting.
DISORDERLY
Nov. 6
1:24 p.m., Wood Hollow Drive, Munson. Male attacked an Amazon driver. Swung at the driver. It is on video. Complainant was dropping off a package and the male pulled behind him in a vehicle, and he got out of his car and started yelling. He then swung at the driver. Report taken.
INTOXICATED PERSON
Nov. 9
8:32 p.m., Kinsman Road, Zeppes, Newbury. Caller is reporting a intoxicated female smashed a window on the outside of the building. Caller is reporting the female’s son does work there. Juvenile at the house with his mother. She is now outside the vehicle is very intoxicated. No injuries or lacerations from the broken glass. Son picked her up from Zeppes since she was intoxicated. Was arrested for criminal damaging after breaking a window. She was upset regarding her son’s girlfriend and alleged teenage pregnancy scam. Report to follow.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Nov. 5
10:01 a.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Caller states someone deflated all four tires. Valve covers have been taken off. Blue Jeep Compass. All four tires are flat and three out of four valve cores removed. Caller does not know who could have done this. No cameras at caller’s house or neighbors.
SUSPICIOUS
Nov. 3
1:35 a.m., Lake Shore Drive, Newbury. People in the back sitting in the backyard now. They were stealing lawnmowers from the backyard. Deputies checked the backyard and nothing suspicious was observed. Nothing appeared to be taken.
Nov. 5
4:55 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Caller hears a women screaming above her. Caller became verbally nasty on the phone and told dispatch we were not to ask her anymore questions, and we had
better not send anyone there. Caller state she lives in a house and that there should be no women there screaming. Deputies responded and spoke with the complainant. Advised the screaming was coming from State Route 44. Deputies spoke someone who advised his grandchildren were playing in the driveway making noise. Everyone checked OK.
Nov. 7
9:36 a.m., Merritt Road, Geauga Sheriff’s Office. Male in the lobby to report he was human trafficked in Willoughby Friday through Monday. Complainant came to post to report a suspicious incident that occurred on Lake County. Advice given.
Nov. 8
12:23 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Saw a subject with a green knit cap. Smaller build with long brown hair, carrying what looked like something in a blanket into the woods. Lady looking for a chicken.
THEFT
Nov. 3
5:34 a.m., Patch Road, Parkman. Work trailer full of tools stolen. Last seen last night before he went to bed. Got up this morning and it was gone. Trailer recovered.
Nov. 8
9:34 a.m., Helmut Drive, Chardon. Items stolen from his vehicle sometime over night. Unlocked car missing change, his registration and the key to his hitch pin.
Nov. 8
10:42 a.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller states his car was broken into. Wallet missing. Report taken.
THREATENING
Nov. 9
6:37 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Caller reports that he was trying to sell an item online and a buyer threatened to come to the Middlefield tavern and shoot the caller and than sent a picture of a revolver. Deputy spoke with victim learned person from Cleveland threatened to blow his brains out over messenger. Deputy located person and confirmed the threats. A warrant will be issued for aggravated menacing.
