The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 17-23, 2024.

ANIMAL BITE

May 20

8:49 a.m., Wayne Lane, Hambden. Female from Wayne Lane was walking her dog down Woodin Road this morning when a dog from a residence on Woodin Road came into the street and began attacking her dog. When she tried to separate them, she was scratched on her right arm. Female did not want to give name or address of the other dog involved at this time. Will forward this information to the dog warden.

EXTRA PATROL

May 17

3:14 p.m., Henning Drive and Chardon Road, Chardon. Traffic cutting through from Route 6 Monday thru Friday from 6-7 a.m. Speed is supposed to be 35 mph. There were going excess of 50 mph. Construction to start in June and traffic will be rerouted to Henning. Caller requesting extra patrol.

HARASSMENT

May 21

3:44 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller advised her friend is harassing her. Male is inside videotaping the caller. T-shirt and jeans. Suspect is now texting the caller and threatening to kill her dog by strangulation. He is blowing up her phone. Caller would like to speak to an officer. Caller was being harassed by a male friend at pizza shop that she brought with her to the bar. Male party was videotaping the caller. Male was taken to lobby for his sister to pick him up.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

May 17

1:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Would like to speak to someone in reference to juveniles calling in to make orders for an elderly female that lives at Aquilla Road. Elderly female says this happens frequently with kids pranking her. Three juveniles from Mentor Schools ordered $58.71 in pizza. No charges wanted. Contact made with guardians who agreed to pay bills.

SUSPICIOUS

May 17

1:51 p.m., Fowlers Mill Road, Munson. Caller reports that individuals that attempted to take things out of her father’s trailer on the property. Caller also advised things were taken from the house. Caller states a male is the one who stole it. Caller states trailer was moved and tires were missing. Already reported.

May 20

7:18 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Caller advised someone built a house on his property. Caller advised they started a few days ago but he just noticed. There was no one building on the property. Contact was made with his son to make the family aware of the call.

THEFT

May 17

10:33 a.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. 4-wheeler was stolen sometime between 8:30-10:15 a.m. this morning. Caller did not witness anything. Report taken.

May 18

12:54 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. One guy went back down to Mulligan’s, ran off on his tab. Has most of the group there, they tried to steal kayaks. One person took a kayak and went down the river. Also another male in the woods running back to Mulligan’s. No weapon seen. Fire department assisted in attempting to locate a kayak/canoe taken.

May 19

8:48 p.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Caller states someone removed his spare tire from his radar detector. Caller believes it was (redacted). Items were removed from the caller’s Jeep.

May 21

4:50 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Two 94-gallon garbage cans on wheels were stolen sometime between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. Today. No suspects, leads or evidence.

WELFARE CHECK

May 17

8:10 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller asking for an attorney, then asked to talk to someone to explain things. He stated he escaped from jail. He advised Judge is stupid and in deep shi*. He is talking and seems very confused, not making sounds. He sounds intoxicated. He is speaking very derogatory to Copeline. Asking her if she wants to have relations. Deputies met with caller, who was intoxicated. He advised he wanted to speak to someone about his husband stabbing him. I am aware that his husband is currently in jail for this. I explained to him if he needed help to call us but don’t call and be belligerent. I responded to the residence. I explained to him every time he calls, we will respond. He told me that he needs to go to bed.
