The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 3-9, 2024.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

May 6

7:45 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. There are ducks that have been killed recently in this area, Today there is one white one that has been mutilated in the roadway. People are swerving to miss them. They need to keep their ducks away from the roadway. Deputy attempted to contact homeowner. There was no answer at the house.

ASSAULT

May 5

6:49 p.m., Plank Road, Huntsburg. Subject was on his motorcycle and was driving down Goredon Drive and a subject came out of a house and hit me in the back. Not injured and caller just arrived at his residence on Plank Road. Caller doesn’t know the males name but knows where he lives at Gordeon Drive. Caller has had problems with this male many times in the past.

CITIZEN ASSAULT

May 7

9:07 a.m., Madison Road, Montville. Resident at the listed address shoots all weekend long, disturbing the neighborhood. Suspect is shooting very close to the caller’s property. Her and her neighbors are fearful of going outdoors or letting pets out and are looking for intervention. The shooting is not taking place currently; caller is looking for advice (phone call). Caller said the neighbor shoots for five to six hours on the weekends. The caller is thinking of moving because it is loud and constant. Caller will possibly call back to make sure the shooting is safe and voice the concerns of the neighbors. The neighbor is currently not shooting today.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

May 4

8:10 p.m., Huntington Street, Chardon. Neighbor is yelling in the street at the caller, said: “F you.” Caller advised he went crazy. Neighbor is now at the dragon house. Caller advised neighbor said he has no place to live and will pop a tent. Neighbor is intoxicated. Upon arrival, suspect found seated near an open fire at 114 Huntington. Suspect stated he did argue with neighbors, but never elaborated on why he argued. Suspect was advised the homeowner at 114 Huntington no longer wishes to have him on the property. He stated he is fine and left the property without incident.

May 8

10:57 a.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Irate parents of a 14-year-old child is demanding the student’s preschool records. Staff does not have this information any longer. Parent is coming to the location and made the staff feel very uncomfortable; he advised he was coming and “You better have these documents when I get there.” Staff has kept students in from recess in case there was a problem. Report to the elementary school to meet with the caller. Male never showed.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

May 5

8:05 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Assaulted by her sister. Sister is 70-year-old female and she attacked her with a horse whip. Caller is bleeding from the hand refusing squad. No other known weapons. Caller had to hang up because she was on a land line in the barn where her sister is. She was going to go sit in her car with her dog to be away from her sister. Caller also advised they co-own the residence.

ROAD RAGE

May 6

7:12 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. SUV navy blue driven by a bigger male with bright neon green shirt and sunglasses threw something at the caller and it hit it. Male pulled into parking lot and he was speeding. Female is at her residence on Thomas Drive now. She would like a call back. Her kids were in the car and she is upset. Advice given.

SICK/INJURED ANIMAL

May 8

5:55 a.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller states there was a deer in a ditch that looked like it was hit. He called to notify that he opened fire on the deer so it wouldn’t suffer. He was advised that a deputy would respond since he fired his weapon so close to the roadway. Taylor Wells is where the dead deer is. Geauga County Health Department for removal.

SUSPICIOUS

May 4

8:45 a.m., Beechnut, Munson. Male is walking a dog up and down the road and carrying a shotgun. Caller thinks it is suspicious and would like him checked on.

THEFT AUTO

May 4

7:16 a.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Truck and trailer stolen from his nursery last night. Located in Leavittsburg. He received a call from them this morning. Red 2012 Ford F250 and red 16-foot enclosed trailer was stolen from business overnight. Truck and trailer were located abandoned in Leavittsburg. Unknown what other items are missing from the business. Report taken.

WEAPON OFFENSE

May 3

6:06 p.m., Springdale Avenue, Middlefield. White truck, red stripe, black male in mid to late 40s. Toward Save-A-Lot. Caller asked male to leave the lot for paving and he pulled a gun on him. Caller advised he waved it at him twice. Back lot by the buggies is where the caller will be. Male brandished firearm at Walmart employee. Report under review by prosecutor’s office.
