The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 11 through Dec. 17. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 361 calls during this seven-day period.

THEFT

Dec. 12

8:01 a.m., Winagle Road, Troy. Theft from a vehicle. Complainant explained that her husband’s wallet, change and cigarettes were taken from his unlocked vehicle overnight. Vehicle was no longer at the residence. Stated they had already cancelled cards. There was a locked vehicle in the driveway that was not tampered with. Wished to have the incident documented and received incident report.

Weapon offense

Dec. 12

4:04 p.m., Thomas St., Newbury. The caller lives at this address. She stated that two houses south of her, there are people target shooting. She is concerned because there are houses behind them and her children are playing outside. Deputy responded. Subjects are shooting from a residence on Bell Road. Shooting at a backstop and metal plates. No crime committed.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 12

12:11 p.m., Stone Road, Newbury. Someone tried to steal my trailer, a lock was damaged. Someone took my truck for a joy ride and returned the truck on empty. There were multiple extension cords taken out of the back of my work truck a couple weeks ago. Caller doesn’t know who is doing this. Deputy spoke with the complainant who believes his father-in-law who lives across the street may be responsible. Party stated he was going to put up cameras to catch the person and does not want anything done until he has proof.
