The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 6-12. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 308 calls during this seven-day period.
ALCOHOL OFFENSE
June 8
2:34 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Taxi driver dropped my daughter off at a house on Tavern Road. There is an underage drinking party going on there. Buggies in the driveway. Possibly near the barn. Deputy spole with owner of the property and requested those under age of 21 to leave location with responsible party. No units available to assist due to another call.
EXTRA PATROL
June 9
8:21 a.m., Mayfield Road, Chester. A second request for extra patrol for truckers gearing down, overloaded and exhausts disconnected. Complainant is extremely upset that he has yet seen any officer or deputy doing patrol in this area. He also stated Arm’s Trucking has become a major trucking supplier and truck traffic has increased without any extra patrol. This starts at 7 a.m. and continues all day into the early morning hours of around 2 a.m. Complainant also stated the officers and/or deputies can park across the street in the drive for the power lines. Chester Township Police Department advised. State patrol was also advised for extra patrol.
MEDICAL
June 11
7:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male lost and doesn’t know where he is. Male states his head and chest hurt. He does not know what is wrong with him or where he is at. He states he has a history of seizures. Male states he is wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black shoes or boots. Male states he can see trees, a stop sign, and mailboxes. Deputy assisted squad with medical call.
SUSPICIOUS
June 12
7:32 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Complainant’s 3-year-old daughter ate a partial marijuana cigarette and is currently in the waiting room at Geauga ER. Mother would like to speak with a deputy. She believes the “joint” belonged to the neighbors from the downstairs apartment where they live.
June 12
12:46 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. Dark blue van driving door to door. Two gentlemen in the vehicle are attempting to sell American air filtering systems. Caller stated they did not have any identification and she believes they don’t have a permit. Caller stated there was no front plate on the van and it was rusted and dented. They are no longer at the address, but may be in the area. Deputy responded. Spoke with complainant and neighbor. Unable to locate.
THEFT
June 7
4:03 p.m., Claridon Troy. People at the tractor pull track are stealing rocks from the township gravel pile. Deputy advised. While responding to call, contacted township worker and found items that were being taken were free.
TRESPASSING
June 8
6:32 p.m., Old State Road, Parkman. Two Amish kids keep taking a horse across caller’s yard. They live across the street from her. When she told them to leave her property, they pulled their pants down and mooned her and cursed at her. She would like to meet with a deputy.
VANDALISM
June 9
8:42 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller advised she was out of town and someone vandalized her garden. She suspects her neighbor. The caller would like to meet. Deputy advised. Caller came home to find irrigation to their garden has been running for an unknown amount of time. A friend who checked on the property Saturday stated it was not running then. Unknown amount of vegetable plant loss. Unknown if the well water pump has been damaged yet.
