The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 23 through May 29. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 439 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

May 23

8:24 p.m., Center Street, City of Chardon. K-9 requested on 44. Deputy and K-9 Miner assisted the Ohio State Highway Control with a canine sniff of a vehicle. K-9 Miner alerted to the passenger side of the vehicle. A search was conducted. Two marijuana cigarettes were located along with a small package of marijuana. The Ohio State Highway Patrol completed the charges.

EXTRA PATROL

May 23

4:59 a.m., Thompson Road, Thompson Township. Officer request for extra patrol. Seniors taped off area in front of the school. Playing corn hole and throwing football around. Cooking breakfast. Orderly gathering.

May 28

9:45 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg Township. Caller reported they were cleaning out the garage and put 10 bags of mulch outside along the garage sometime over the weekend. Someone took nine bags. Husband also noticed a HVAC box truck driving slowly down the road over the weekend. Unknown if related but just seemed suspicious. Complainant is not home at this time. She is concerned that whoever took the mulch came that close to the house. She has two teenage children. She will call if she sees anything else out of place or suspicious in the area.

INJURED PERSON

May 26

11:09 a.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden Township. 39-year-old male injured by a tree limb. He is conscious. He was standing in the tree and got knocked off of it by the limb and fell about 20 feet. Deputy responded. The male suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was alert and talking. He was eventually transported to the hospital.

NOISE PROBLEM

May 24

10:42 p.m., Klatka Drive, Munson Township. Loud music, bonfire and caller believes it is an underage party. Deputy responded. No underage drinking occurring. Music was loud upon arrival. Resident was advised of complaint and due to the time of day, he would be cited for disorderly conduct should any further calls be received. The disorderly conduct law was explained to the resident and he advised he understood it as explained.

May 25

10:16 a.m., Treadway Drive, Munson Township. Caller states that her next door neighbor has been harassing her by playing music. She says they play the music only to aggravate her. The caller believes that the suspect has a police scanner and when he is called on, he will turn off the music. She is aware there is not a noise ordinance, but believes it is intentional harassment. Deputy advised. Neighbor plays music loud, then turns it town when police show up, then turns it back up. Advice given.

SUSPICIOUS

May 23

6:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury Township. Caller saw a gray car pull up to the Kinetico and two males with darker skin got out and appeared to be throwing something towards the sensor and then they went into the building. Caller was across the street at the bank. Deputy responded. Cleaning crew.

May 27

12:13 p.m., Cambridge Road, Chardon Township. Caller stated a 1/2-hour ago there was a darker gray Chevy Impala or Lumina. He waved me out of my driveway. I waved him on. Last week the same guy walked to my house and said he was out of gas. The car is from out of the area and am concerned that he is casing my house. Deputy spoke with the complainant who advised of the above noted suspicious person and circumstance. Extra patrol was requested.

May 29

7:30 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon Township. There is a suspicious light blue colored truck going door to door in the area trying to sell meat or something out of the back of the vehicle. Complainant would like the area checked for this vehicle and maybe stopped and identified to make sure what they are doing is legal. Complainant does not need to see an officer. Deputy checked area from Auburn Road to the county line and was unable to locate the vehicle.

TRAFFIC CONTROL

May 28

4:06 p.m., Patch Road, Troy Township. Arm’s Trucking dump trucks flying down the road. Complainant afraid they are going to cause an accident. States they are assisting with the paving of Mumford and Jug roads. Deputy spoke with Arms Trucking dispatch staff who were informed of complaint and advised they would radio to all trucks working in this area to travel safely and obey rules of the road.

TRESPASSING

May 23

3:40 p.m., Lake Road, Munson Township. Caller reported a blue sports car pulled up to his house and some teenagers got out and were sitting on his property. Complainant’s sitter asked them to leave and two of them got in their car, but three stayed in his yard for about 20 minutes. Complainant got home and told them to leave and they did, but he would like someone to call them and advise them not to come back on his property. Complainant does not know what they were doing, but thinks they needed somewhere to makeout. Dispatch checked with Mayfield Heights Police Department. Spoke to 18-year-old’s mother, advised her to have son call deputy to be warned of trespassing complaint.
