The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office May 17-23. In total, the sheriffs office handled 382 calls during this seven-day period.

Alcohol Offense

May 18

8:26 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Anonymous caller just witnessed what looked like a group of subjects in a dark colored sedan purchasing multiple 24 packs of beer for a group of Amish kids. Six 14-16-year-old Amish boys were handing the driver of the vehicle money and hauling the beer into the buggy. UTL/GOA.

Citizen Dispute

May 17

4:22 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Grey Ford Focus headed westbound on Kinsman. Complainant advised a female leaning out a car window not to smoke around the gas pumps. Female was also talking on the cell phone at the time. Female told her teenage friends about the complainant asking her not to smoke around the pumps. One of the teenage girls came over to the complainant and spit at him. UTL vehicle. Russell PD also advised to look for vehicle.

Citizen Assist

May 20

8:01 a.m., Windward Way, Auburn. Received a scam call and is really upset about it. Elderly female upset due to scam. Male caller stated she won $1.8 million but needed to send $295 in Walmart green dot cards to collect. Advised.

May 21

6:40 a.m., Burton Heights Boulevard, Burton. Callers daughter was in a car crash in January and the callers ex-husband said he would fix and has not. He was given $1,800 for the repair. Caller asked for the car and parts so she can get the car repaired, and he said it would be a cold day in hell that he wouldnt say where the car was and you will get it back when I am good and ready to give it back. Car is titled to the caller. Deputy advised.

Domestic Dispute

May 22

3:44 p.m., Grace Street, Newbury. Caller states he was visiting a pornographic website and his wife caught him. She is tearing up the house. No physical violence today. Caller states he has not been drinking but suspects she has been. No weapons in home. Wife is now on the phone and says the husband is an alcoholic and a drug addict. She knows he smokes marijuana. Verbal argument between husband and wife. Advice given to both parties. Male will be leaving the residence for a few hours.

Escape

May 22

8:55 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Inmate did not return to the jail from work release. He was due back at 7:30 p.m.

Harassment

May 17

9:49 a.m., Gottschalk Parkway, Auburn. Received a text message last night at 6:01 p.m. Someone paid me to kill you and they want money. I am at work but would like someone to come take a report. Pending for deputy. Caller is fine waiting. Deputy spoke with caller and learned her complaint resembled an extortion death threat scam. Caller did not send any money. I advised caller to file a report with her local jurisdiction in?West Farmington since the incident took place outside Geauga County. Caller also advised her complaint would be documented at sheriffs office. Deputy provided advice to caller and then cleared the call IR only.

Suspicious

May 22

6:31 a.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Someone dumped a bunch of TVs and microwaves on the corner of her property. She does not know who did it. She left work. Husband is home but will be leaving. Dispatch will leave message for township road department to pick up as trash. Items were at the intersection.

May 23

10:52 a.m., Indian Hills Drive, Auburn. Young girl with blue cap on, carrying notebook, stated they had permission to solicit. She left in vehicle driven by a male. Unknown direction of travel. Stated they were with educational company. Township advises they do not. Subjects were advised to stop at Auburn Town Hall for a permit.

11:07 p.m., Park View Drive, Newbury. A man came to the door and was accusing the callers 18-year-old son of doing drugs and getting younger girls drunk. Man said he is the guardian of a couple of girls that live on Auburn Road and he has had to come pick up the girls from that residence on more than one occasion. He is not a parent of the girls. He threatened bodily harm to son and to call the police. He was being loud and making a scene in the driveway. Complainant later called in and said he has a confession to make. He gave the deputies false information and he could like to come clean because he feels guilty. He will be coming to the sheriffs office. He is bringing a bag with him. There are no weapons in the bag, only alcohol.

Theft

May 18

10:11 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Huntsburg. Video of a shoplifter. Wants to speak with a deputy. Report to follow.

Threatening

May 21

6:01 p.m., Nelson Road, Parkman. Received a text that stated if he does not give them $1,000 they will hurt him. Deputy informed of call. Spoke with complainant. The text is a civil matter and will attempt to contact sender of text. Will update as necessary.

May 23

11:13 a.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon. Male subject keyed one of our cars after we kicked him out last night. He is also threatening to burn our house down and other text messages.

Warrant Service

May 17

12:37 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Male located hiding in a closet inside the residence. Male was given his rights on scene and an interview was given by Kirtland PD. Male was then transported to the sheriffs office without incident.
