Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Dec. 27 through Jan. 2. In total, the sheriffs office handled 330 calls during this seven-day period.

Animal Problem

Dec. 30

12:38 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Three horses without blankets. Horses have shelter, food, water. Horses appear in good condition. Complainant advised there is no requirement for blankets.

Burglary

Dec. 28

8:01 a.m., GAR Highway, Montville. Someone took about $300 of coins from the house. Window was broken. Occurred between noon and 3 p.m. yesterday.

Citizen Dispute

Dec. 27

10:05 p.m., Hermitage Road, Chardon. Caller advised he is having issues with neighbor harassing him. Neighbor is pointing spotlights at callers house. They are in a dispute over some trees and buildings that were taken down. Neighbor was outside yelling and screaming at caller today. Deputy spoke caller who wished to make a record that they are having continual problem with their neighbor. This had been ongoing problem since August and they have noticed it has been getting increasingly worse. Today caller was on his property looking at a dead tree and neighbor came out yelling a plethora of expletives at caller. Advice given.

Dec. 31

3:34 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Family was just observed ripping down the callers fence and no trespassing sign. Report taken.

Found Property

Jan. 1

7:04 a.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Out with a flatscreen TV in the road.

Juvenile Problem

Dec. 31

4:45 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Teenage is being unruly. I told him to clean the house and he wasnt allowed to leave and he left. I think he went to the neighbors home. I am not able to discipline him. Unknown if any alcohol or drugs; found out a few weeks ago he smokes marijuana. Deputy spoke with both mother and son; they were given advice on how to help each other do chores around the house and to respect each other. They were both cooperative. Advice given.

Road Rage

Dec. 28

7:29 a.m., Main Market Road, Claridon. Young guy, white in 20s. Grey car. Almost ran caller off road. Break checking and did make contact with her bumper. Vehicle owner is listed in LEADS as a sexually violent predator. UTL.

Suspicious

Dec. 27

12:26 p.m., Parkman. Callers husband has been harassing her in person and over the phone. He is now sending her pictures of a gun, telling her he is going to hurt himself. He was just released from hospital for suicidal thoughts. Caller isnt sure where he is at. Husband is telling her he is going to send out naked pictures of her. OSHP located the male and arrested him. Only threats of self harm conveyed to the wife and no threats of violence against any member of the family. OSHP took husband to hospital. Caller advised to seek a protection order.

3:16 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. No ranger on duty in Punderson. Possible poacher with a truck load of beaver carcasses. Truck parked before the camper check in station in middle of the road. UTL/GOA. Unfounded.

Dec. 31

11:28 a.m., Sherman Road, Munson. East of Auburn Road an older gentleman is running up and down the road in short shorts. Caller asked if he needed a ride and the gentleman just laughed. Caller believes he is disoriented. UTL/GOA.

Jan. 1

5:33 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Parkman. Caller spotted a bottle next to the guardrail on a post. Caller advised he does not want a deputy to stop at his house. Deputy advised. Geocashing.

Theft

Dec. 27

8:28 a.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Wants to make a report of a guest drinking wine in her house. Responded to location and met with caller. Caller advised she allowed a guest to stay with her for a few days and during that time she consumed her alcoholic beverages without her permission. Caller further stated she wanted the incident documented at the GCSO at this time. Caller already advised guest she is no longer allowed at the residence and is no longer staying with her. Advice given. Cleared. IR only.

4:59 p.m., Oakstone Trail, Chardon. Jewelry taken by a hired person doing repairs.

Dec. 30

4:42 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Shoplifter at Marathon. One arrested.
