The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office July 26 through Aug. 1. In total, the sheriffs office handled 426 calls during this seven-day period.
Animal Problem
July 28
8:28 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Loose cow in the back yard, next to Coachs Bar. Unknown who cow belongs to. It keeps moving around, toward the bar. Cow made its way home. Owner will check the fence line.
July 31
9:03 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Guy walking and a goat is following him. He is afraid he will be arrested for stealing a goat. Man says he is staying at hotel and is on foot and has an ID. Responded to area and checked for male and goat. GOA/UTL.
Assault
July 28
2:14 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Referee was assaulted; subject is still there. Deputy was advised. Soccer game at Thompson Road between routes 86 and 528. Everyone is starting to calm down. Subject wearing white shorts and white shirt, with white hat on. Referee was assaulted with soccer ball to side of head. Referee has a slight cut nose, bleeding. The game is over and everyone is standing around. Disagreement over a call by the referee. An unknown male threw a soccer ball, striking the referee on the side of the head and knocked off his glasses. The referee did not want any law enforcement action. The angry players were warned of their language and behavior.
Citizen Assist
July 26
2:29 p.m., Fairmount Road, Russell. Post 1 lobby. Concerns regarding a sexual predator in the area.
July 29
10:12 a.m., Regent Park Drive, Munson. Complainant lives at the above address. Racial information material has been left at the residence and Jesus statue was taken. Statue was found and returned. Deputy advised. Report to follow.
10:24 a.m., Mentor Rod, Chardon. Elderly female has a snake in her basement. Come around to left side of house; outside steps down to the basement. She is watching the snake. Deputy advised. Snake removed.
July 28
11:51 a.m., Lake LaDue, Auburn. Stuck on the dam. Boat motor quit and oar broke. One the far side, east side, past the intake. WENS to Auburn and Troy. FD will assist, they are equipped with a boat. Akron watershed was notified.
Citizen Dispute
July 26
8:46 p.m., Greentree Lane, Troy. Between neighbors that have been drinking. Knife was mentioned, then he hung up. They started arguing and then one guy pulled a knife, another guy grabbed him and pushed him. Punched him in the jaw. They are separated at this time. Deputies arrived on scene and met with parties. Both parties were highly intoxicated and admitted to being involved in a minor struggle. Complainant advised he brandished a small pocket knife in self defense. He advised the other party was a state champ wrestler and believed he was in danger because of it. Both parties denied any further action and refused to complete statements or pursue charges. Nothing further at this time; both parties advised to cease their disorderly behavior.

5:51 p.m., Treadway Drive, Munson. Neighbor is cutting my grass again.
Extra Patrol
July 26
1:11 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller states the boy next door is turning 21 and they believe he is going to have a big party. They have a limo and then are coming back. She is sure there will be both drugs and underage drinking, and is asking for extra patrol throughout the night.
Intoxicated Person
Aug. 1
2:46 a.m., Thrasher Road, Troy. Male caller is on the phone insisting another male is breaking all kinds of laws. He is slurring his words and hard to understand. He says he wants him arrested for driving (which he is not), drinking (but he thinks hes sleeping), probation violation, playing his music (cannot hear music). Caller just advised he just wants him arrested. Deputies checked with males mother who stated he was fine, sleeping and not drinking. She said caller was drunk. Deputies could not locate.
Suspicious
July 26
1:14 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Hears something in the attic. Pest control en route.
July 27
3:58 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. House was paint-balled just about 10 minutes ago. No need for report, just to be on the look out. This happened last week as well. Advised of incident.
July 29
1:59 a.m., Big Creek Ridge Drive, Hambden. The motion detector light in the back of the house just went on. There were two people out back that took off running. It looked like they had lifted the pool cover. Last year they had problems with someone putting feces into the pool and lighting a bag of cat feces on fire. She would like to make a report. Deputies checked area with negative results. Unable to use K9 for track because usable tracking area contaminated.
6:44 p.m., Berkshire Drive, Aquilla. Neighbor had a gun that looked real and were pointing at them. Everyone has gone in doors at this time and would like to file a report. Multiple kids playing in yard with toy guns with orange tips. No crime. Spoke with caller to advise him of same.
July 30
2:31 p.m., Dewey Road, Thompson. Suspicious males north of 166. UTL on three shaved-head males acting suspicious, walking northbound.
July 31
7:11 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. Group of men along the banks of LaDue bow hunting. Caller would like them checked; they were walking down the road and appeared to be hunting while groups of people are right there fishing. UTL.
Theft
July 27
4:15 p.m., Eastwood Drive, Auburn. Watch was sent to be repaired and now shows up on eBay for sale. Mailed on July 19 to company in Canada for repairs. Deputy informed of call. Theft occurred while item was in custody of UPS. Caller was given contact information to U.S. Postal Inspector.
July 30
11:16 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Theft of money from the safe. Forced the safe open. Amount taken $1,325 in cash and checks. Report taken.
Threatening
July 31
11:11 a.m., Messenger Road, Auburn. Teenage daughter received a threatening message from a boy: Ill kill you and a lot of F bombs. Daughter posted something and he got jealous. Caller is not home; he will come to post sometime for a report.
Traffic Crash
July 29
7:02 a.m., Butternut Road, Munson. Complainant was driving Butternut and a flock of geese walked out in front of her, she could not stop and believes she hit a couple of the geese. She will be in later today for the report; she has damage to her car. She is requesting we check Butternut for the geese. Complainant is on her way to Cleveland for the games.
Traffic Stop
July 30
7:12 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Hambden. Driver stated the vehicle ahead of him was being a dick, so he intentionally tailgated vehicle. Deputy warned driver this was not a good idea. Driver apologized for his behavior and advised deputy he deserved a ticket. Deputy warned driver. Driver receptive.
