NDES Excels at Math Competition

On Feb. 18, NDES participated in the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Math (GCCTM) Competition. The GCCTM competition promotes enthusiasm for math, challenges students in an energizing setting and celebrates community-wide achievements of these young mathematicians.

The NDES math team consisted of four sixth-grade and two fifth-grade math teams. All NDES teams were recognized with award winning performances, earning trophies, blue ribbons and red ribbons. A sixth-grade team had a perfect score. An extra special thank you to Mrs. Cathy Zink and Mrs. Lisa Petryszyn for preparing the students for the competition.

100 Days of Kindergarten

Jennifer Wachob and Elizabeth Looman’s kindergarten students celebrated 100 days of school by dressing to be 100 and applied math skill to illustrate what “100” looks like.

Population: A Game of Chance

Students in Casie Long’s junior high science class are studying population change. In a lab, students used popcorn kernels to simulate a pack of wolves. Students rolled dice and used the chance numbers to represent the changes that affect the wolf pack’s survival. Results were recorded and discussed.
