Geauga Beef & Swine
The Geauga Beef & Swine 4-H Club’s meeting was held on Feb. 5 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds School Building at 1 p.m. Members were assigned their club reports, including the Cloverbuds.
The club split the Antique Market Clean Up so that half the club attends the June date and half the club attends the September date in which each member must attend one since this is one of the club’s fundraisers.
Members talked about the pillars of character and watched a livestock video on character. They also discussed goal setting for their animals and club and watched a livestock video on goal setting. Then the club made its three club goals for the year. A sheet was passed out to each member to make three personal goals related to his or her 4-H project.
The club will be going to the Geauga County Home on Feb. 11 as a community service project. It also will be participating in the 4-H Week window display the week of March 5-11 and the club display will be at Mapledale Farms in Hambden. Members then went over upcoming club events.
The club met again on March 5 in the school building on the Geauga County Fairgrounds. The meeting was called to order at 4:12 p.m.
Members discussed the club dues, which will be due at the next meeting. Janine Hartory, Jimmy Hartory, Tristan Sestak and Austin Wetzel shared their reports. Members discussed the community service project from the club’s Geauga County Home visit. Mary Wetzel, Catherine Chuha and Kat Stumph have submitted all of their paperwork for becoming advisors. Members were assigned to present their reports at the April meeting.
For Family-A-Fair, the club decided to donate money so that a family can attend the fair who otherwise would not be able to attend. Paperwork for enrollment was collected.
Members discussed gift ideas for buyer’s gifts for club projects that will be going through the Geauga County Livestock Sale. Everyone went around the room and each read an excerpt of information on swine breeds.

Geauga Livestock
Geauga Livestock 4-H Club had a meeting on Feb. 19 in Bainbridge. New officers were elected: Addie Klimek, president; Danny Nichols, vice president; Emma Edwards, secretary; Jane Edwards, treasurer; Taylor Poff, news reporter; and Sage Edwards, historian.
The club will be participating in Ohio 4-H Week the week of March 5-11 by completing a window display. Members will also be selling Malley’s chocolate bars as a fundraiser and they are looking into a location to have a car wash.
The next meeting is March 12 in Bainbridge. Danny Nichols will be doing a lamb selection report. (Submitted by Taylor Poff, news reporter)
