District Claps Out Seniors
There is a new tradition for the Cardinal Local School District to end the year for its graduating class. Seniors took a trip down memory lane May 18, with one last walk through the halls of Cardinal Schools.
The class of 2017 began their trek at Jordak Elementary, walking the building twice, as K-4 students and staff clapped out the graduating class. After Jordak, seniors then travelled to both CMS and CHS where they received the same ovation.
It was an exciting moment for everyone – for the seniors, it was a chance to go back, and for the younger students, it was a glimpse into the future. Congratulations, class of 2017.
4th-Grade Graduation
Cheers and tears for the fourth-grade class as the students officially graduate from elementary school and move on to the middle school next year. Students were recognized for their academic achievements in the fourth quarter and all received diplomas and carnations at the May 26 ceremony.
The class of 2025 is the last to graduate from Cardinal Intermediate School.
Field Day
Pomp and circumstance for the fourth-graders, but it was all fun and games for the K-3 pups at Jordak Elementary School for the last day of school. Students had a blast playing games and participating in various indoor activities during their field day on May 26.
Students were able to go through an inflatable obstacle course, get temporary tattoos and Popsicles, and participate in relay races that involved matching, carrying a block on a spoon, rolling hula hoops down the hall, balancing Frisbees on their heads, passing a marble from spoon to spoon and several other activities. Thank you, PTA and volunteers, for making the day fun and to Friends of Mike Fenselon for providing a delicious lunch.
Famous Ohioans
The famous Ohioans were back at CIS before school let out for the summer. Every year, the fourth-graders do a big, end of the year project on a famous person who is from Ohio. Students conduct research, create a display, dress up as their famous person and then line up to give presentations on who they are to other students and staff members. It’s a great learning experience every year and fun for everyone to discover the famous people that are from Ohio.
There was even a little bit of a Cleveland Cavaliers / Golden State Warriors rivalry going on with LeBron James and Steph Curry in attendance. Curry was born in Akron.
