Parent Teacher Conferences

On Sept. 14, Kenston Middle School and Kenston High School will host parent conferences for the first nine weeks. The parent teacher conference is an opportunity for parents to learn about their child’s progress in school and for teachers to gain insight into their student’s home and community lives.

Both schools utilize an “open” format with teachers at individual tables, set up in the gym where you can stop to see any or all of their child’s teachers.

Middle school conferences are from 3-7 p.m. High school conferences are scheduled from 4-8 p.m.

During the school year, parents may utilize Infinite Campus to check their student’s weekly progress.

Freshman Class Officers

Freshman class officers were elected by their peers. Representing the class of 2021 are: Chloe Peiffer, president; Nathan Gaskins, vice president; Alexa Busby, secretary; and Layla Gilbert, treasurer.

Homecoming Parade

Kenston’s annual homecoming parade will take place Sept. 19. The parade, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature the Kenston band and drill team, building floats and individual participants. The theme this year is Rio Carnival.

The parade will begin in the high school staff parking lot. Please park between the middle school and intermediate school and view from the lawn of the middle school.

School Bus Safety

As students return to school, everyone’s help is needed to keep kids safe as they get on and off the bus. Children are safer traveling in school buses than in any other type of motor vehicle. However, every year, school bus accidents happen because many drivers forget about some school bus safety basics.

Ohio has laws that require all vehicles to come to a halt when a school bus has its stop sign out and its red lights flashing. These signals indicate that children are getting on or off the bus.

When sharing the road with school buses, remember these rules: Do not pass a school bus until the red lights and signals are turned off; always stop when traveling in the same direction as the bus; and never pass on the right side of the bus. Besides being illegal, this is where children enter and exit.

Will Train Bus Drivers

Kenston Transportation Department needs individuals with current CDL school bus endorsement for contract or substitute driver positions. Transportation is willing to train drivers. For more information, contact Melody Coniglio at 440-543-9567.
