CFHS Students Recognized in Ohio Governor’s Art Show

Four Chagrin Falls High School students have been selected for the prestigious Ohio Governor’s Art Show, with Owen Stull earning a spot among the Top 25 artists in the state. The selected works represent a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, reflecting the creativity and individuality of each student artist. From ceramics to charcoal, metalwork to digital design, the group showcases the depth and diversity of artistic expression cultivated at Chagrin Falls High School.

Katherine Rosner, grade 11, was recognized for Imperial Teapot, a detailed stoneware piece featuring intricate sculptural elements and glaze work.

Owen Stull, grade 12, received Top 25 honors for Sahlo Folina, a vibrant and imaginative digital illustration transferred onto a wooden skateboard deck using acrylic techniques.

Caleb Zelch, grade 12, was selected for Phycodurus eques, a complex mixed-media metalwork piece incorporating brass, acid etching, patina and opal.

Ari Zimmerman, grade 12, was selected for Silas: The Emergence of Hope, a white charcoal portrait on black paper.

Together, these works highlight not only technical skill, but also the willingness of students to explore a variety of materials and creative processes.

Owen Stull was accepted into the 2025 Ohio Governor’s Art Show and has again been selected this year, this time earning a Top 25 designation.

The Ohio Governor’s Art Show is one of the most competitive student art exhibitions in the state, featuring work selected from thousands of submissions.

“We are incredibly proud of these students and the way they represent Chagrin Falls,” said Amanda Rassi. “Their work demonstrates not only talent, but creativity, perseverance and a willingness to explore new ideas.”

CF Students Showcase Talent at 2026 Spring Art Show, Earn Top Honors

The Chagrin Falls Schools community gathered April 16-19 at the Hamlet Village Atrium for the annual Spring Art Show, featuring artwork from Chagrin Falls Middle School and High School students. The multi-day event highlighted the depth and diversity of the district’s visual arts programs.

Families, staff and community members attended throughout the weekend, with a Grandparents Day event offering an opportunity for extended family members to view the exhibit. The show opened with an awards ceremony and live performance by the Chagrin Falls High School Jazz Band.

Students were recognized across a wide range of categories. Haley Felgar received the Hamlet Best in Show honor, while Layla Hauserman and Patrick Rodriguez earned the Hamlet High School Gold and Silver awards, respectively. Dane Sellars received the Board of Education Award, and Zack Huey received a Valley Art Center Award and recognition from the Chagrin Falls Village Council.

Finn Lax and Greyson Chess were named Outstanding Photography recipients, while Anthony Lauer and Claire Rubin were recognized as Outstanding 2-D Artists. Caleb Zelch and Katie Rosner earned Outstanding 3-D Artist honors. Principal’s Awards were presented to Sophia Link (high school) and Averie Stuart (middle school).

At the state level, Owen Stull was named among the Top 25 in the Ohio Governor’s Art Exhibition, while Katie Rosner, Ari Zimmerman and Caleb Zelch were recognized in the Top 300. In the Scholastic Art Awards, Ari Zimmerman and Taerek Anderson received Gold Keys, with Silver Key and Honorable Mention honors awarded to additional Chagrin Falls students.

The show also noted graduating seniors continuing studies in illustration, architecture, glass engineering and art therapy.

The event was organized through a collaborative effort involving the Chagrin Falls Schools Art Department, PTO, community partners and volunteers. Hamlet Village hosted the event, with district staff and community organizations supporting judging, setup and promotion.

2026 Spring Art Show – Award Winners

Valley Art Center Awards went to Ellie Plant and Zack Huey. Haley Felgar received the Hamlet Best in Show honor. Layla Hauserman earned the Hamlet High School Gold Award and Patrick Rodriguez the Silver. Zack Huey also received the Chagrin Falls Village Council Award, and Dane Sellars was presented the Board of Education Award. PTO Awards were given to Teagan Larkin, Dem Snyder, Ari Zimmerman and Chloe Nightwine.

Special recognition awards went to Finn Lax and Greyson Chess for Outstanding Photography; Anthony Lauer and Claire Rubin for Outstanding 2-D Art; and Caleb Zelch and Katie Rosner for Outstanding 3-D Art. Sophia Link received the High School Principal’s Award and Averie Stuart the Middle School Principal’s Award.

High school Gold Awards were presented to Dem Snyder, Mackenzie Verderber, Greyson Chess, Oliver Saltz, Charlotte Clark, Layla Hauserman, James Wagner, Sophia Link, Jacob Kay, Molly Nightwine, Natalie Zalud (2), Dane Sellars, Chloe Nightwine, Katie Rosner (2), Miles Nesbitt, Emily Gasser, Lauren Eickhoff, Wyatt Corto, Halle Klusmann, Avery Dietzel, Brigitte Edwards, Mae Livingston (2), Mason Phillips, Claire Rubin (2), Emma Lagemann, Ella Felgar (2), Owen Stull (2), Finn Lax, Ari Zimmerman, Marley McJennett, Kate McKenna and Caleb Zelch. Middle school Gold Awards went to Isabel Rogalski (4), Wrenn Warren, Jade Borger, Evelyn Klusmann, Elizabeth Plant (2), Claire Beatty (2), Saryn De La Mare (4), Leo Fink (4) and Julia McElyea.

At the state and national level, Owen Stull was named in the Top 25 of the Ohio Governor’s Art Exhibition. Katie Rosner, Ari Zimmerman and Caleb Zelch were recognized in the Top 300. In the Scholastic Art Awards, Ari Zimmerman and Taerek Anderson received Gold Keys. Silver Keys went to Ari Zimmerman, Katie Rosner and Oliver Saltz. Ari Zimmerman also received three Honorable Mention citations.
