Free Memory Screenings

Nov. 7, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Cheryl Hallowell from UH Geauga’s Senior Adult Assessment Program will be offering memory screenings to provide seniors with their baseline numbers at the West Geauga Senior Center.

Learning About Bonds

Nov. 7, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attend the Focus on Fixed Income seminar to learn more about bond characteristics and features, the relationship between interest rates and bond prices, tax advantages of municipal bonds and how bonds may help seniors weather fluctuating markets. Financial advisor Steve Mrozek will discuss how fixed-income investments such as bonds may help seniors reach their financial goals

The presentation will be held at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive.

Middlefield Library History Speaker Series

Nov. 8, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Paul Goebbel will present “Women of the Civil War” at the Middlefield Senior Center.

He will discuss the forgotten group of the Civil War and the roles they played on the home front, in the military and as spies and on the lasting effects of the War experience.

Deadline for lunch and transit to the event is Oct. 27. Call the Middlefield Senior Center, 440-632-0611, to register. The event is brought courtesy of Middlefield Library.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

Nov. 14, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road. There will be a program on Euclid Beach followed by a brief meeting about end of the year activities.

Food, staples and paper products will be collected for the Food For Friends food pantry as well as donations for the Geauga County Dog Shelter. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

Refreshments will be served.

Medicare Drug Coverage Options

Ohio Department of Insurance trained Geauga County Department on Aging staff and volunteers offer one-on-one reviews at Geauga senior centers. Compare the 2018 Medicare Part D and Advantage plans.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday, Nov. 30.

Call 440-279-2130, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to schedule an appointment. Bring a current list of medicines to the appointment.

Meal Delivery Drivers Needed

The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of Home Delivered Meal drivers. Once trained, volunteers can deliver meals when the driver is available.

Meal routes are delivered Monday through Friday and provide a nutritious lunch to 10 to 15 homebound seniors.

Drivers must be 18 or older, have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

“Beauty and the Beast”

Nov. 16, 8 p.m.

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and Geauga Department on Aging will present a free viewing of the final dress rehearsal of CVLT’s stage production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” before it begins its official run.

Space is limited. Call 440-729-2782 no later than Nov. 14 to reserve a spot. The event is for Geauga County seniors only.

The theatre is located at 40 River St. in Chagrin Falls. Transit is not available. Free parking is available at the River Street Playhouse, behind the Popcorn Shop or in the municipal lots in the shopping center off of Main Street. Arrive by 7:45 p.m.
