Nature Scopes Program
Cardinal Middle School is always go grateful to the Geauga Park District for coming to help its fifth-graders learn about nature. Every year GPD visits the school as the final part of the Nature Scopes program to teach students what binoculars do and how to use them properly so they get the most out of their viewing experience.
One School, One Book
Students and staff at Cardinal Middle School are enjoying their time reading the R.J. Palacio best-selling book “Wonder” as part of the One School, One Book reading program. Students and staff received copies of the book at a special assembly on Oct. 9.
After receiving their copies, Principal Andy Cardinal read the first chapter out loud to the student body. Students have continued reading the book and participating in activities related to its content. Reading should finish up the week of Nov. 13, just in time for the “Wonder” movie release on Nov. 17.
Thanks to the Geauga County Library, United Way and Cardinal Middle School PTO whose generous donations covered the cost of the books.
Kindergartners Visit Fire Department
Fire Safety Week in mid-October is always a favorite among younger students because they get to visit the Middlefield Fire Department. Kindergarten classes walked over on Oct. 11 and got to tour the facility, see and learn about firefighting tools, hear sirens and view the inside of a fire truck.
The students always leave these trips armed with so much good information on what to do in case of a fire emergency at home or at school. Thank you to the wonderful individuals at MFD for taking time to show the students around and teach them about safety.
Community Cafe
